What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read this books between 2004-2009. I put all of the info I could remember in the topic section.

Searching "novel" "rainforest" "tribe" "cure for" this book came up:
The Canopy by Angela Elwell Hunt. It was published in 2003. Not sure if all the details match but the general plot sounds similar to your description!
