Caitlin Theroux (cmtheroux) | 8 comments Does that mean the birthday month of 2020, or the birthday month in general? Would any book published in any March work for me, for example?

Amanda Hixson | 8 comments I'm doing it as the book must be published in your birthday. For instance what I'm doing is: "The Institute" by Stephen King was published in September and that is my birthday month =)

Karin I am not doing it as my real birthday as I don't put that online, but I am going to pick a special birthday month in my family because there are a few that are riddled with family birthdays. I have it narrowed down to three months and am going to whittle it down by the Jan 1. There are a few GR people who I have never met who are mutual friends with people I know on FB so it's TMI.

And how the heck do you find out this information? Most books only list year of publication- not all include month as well!

Some of them do list the month, particularly newer ones. Here is an example of one in September a few years ago. If you go to the book page and look at the information below the description you'll see when it was first published and it includes the month and date. Girl Waits with Gun You won't find this with classics--then it's generally just the year.

I did a google search for books published in April.

Goodreads usually has the full date of publication with the exception of some classics where the exact date may not be known.

On the website you'll see it just under the "Get a Copy" section. It is immediately under the format and page count.

On the app (android, at least), it is just under the book description, next to the page count.

Pop Sugar has lists of books being released during specific months.
