Mihaela Anca | 3 comments One of the best books I read lately is To Live by Hua Yu. It fits the rural setting requirement and it deeply impressed me. plus it made me want to go deeper into the history of China.

I really want to read that, too! I picked The Dry, which takes place in rural Australia, but I may have to make the effort to get both books in.

I don't remember Emily of New Moon specifically, but Anne of Green Gables takes place on a farm.

Alyssa Kee | 2 comments I would recommend a book by Barbara Kingsolver! I loved both The Bean Trees and Flight Behavior which both take place in rural areas and are from the POV of women who are from rural areas.
