Listopia Challenge
May 1, 2013 to April 30, 2014

LEVEL 3:
Complete Level 1 and Level 2 AND THEN
Read one book from each of another 25 lists but only 20 of those lists can be lists you used in Levels 1 and 2. Don't forget tell us which list each book was on!
NOTE: If you choose Level 3, you will read 75 books from at least 45 of the original 60 lists.
You must complete Level 2 before starting on Level 3.

If you're doing level 3 and you'd like to choose a unique list for each book, I'll grant an exception to the 'first 60 lists' requirement, so that you can work with the first *80* lists (the first 8 pages of lists).

Help Me Decide Challenge
April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014

We all have lots of books that we want to read, but sometimes it’s hard to choose your next read. This challenge is designed to help with that! Those who sign up to participate in this challenge will help each other decide which book to read next. Books will be chosen from the participants' to-read lists, so nobody will be stuck reading a book she/he isn’t already planning to read. Participants will have two weeks in which to read the chosen book, then another round of recommendations will begin. Please note that this challenge will continue for one year!

February 2014 MoM Challenge - Ashley Marie
Runs: February 1 - 28, 2014
Finished: February 18, 2014

1. Ashley told us that her Top Five authors are: Neil Gaiman, Larry Correia, Guy Gavriel Kay, Kristin Cashore, and Jim Butcher. Read any book by one of these authors OR read a book by an author whose initials are the same as any of the Top Five authors (for Guy Gavriel Kay – you will just use GK). For example, for Jim Butcher, you could read a book by Judy Blume.
--Fool Moon - Jim Butcher - 2/18/14

2. Ashley introduced many of us to “Ticket to Ride,” which is her favorite board game. What is your favorite board game?
--I really like Ticket To Ride as well. We have extra maps, extensions, and more than one full set. We play this game more than any other game that we have.

3. Ashley admits she sometimes gets drawn into a book based on its cover. Read a book with a cover that you really like (influenced your decision to read the book) and tell us why you like the cover.
--Cinder - Marissa Meyer - 2/13/14: I think the cover is intriging. I wondered why the skeleton shows up on the show. It's striking, too, the red on the black.
Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer

4. Adopting a domesticated fox from Russia is one of Ashley’s desires. If you could adopt an ‘unusual’ or ‘exotic’ animal, which would you choose?
--Those foxes are very cute. I saw an article about them in the National Geographic. I could go for one of them. Or a tiger. Maybe even a dolphin.

5. Do you like to listen to audio books, as Ashley sometimes does? If yes, listen to any audio book – CD, Playaway, Audio download. If no, read any book whose title starts with one of the letters in AUDIO (Exclude A, An, The).
--Alif the Unseen - Willow G. Wilson - 2/6/14: I listened to this as an audiobook and the title also has two letters in AUDIO. Do I get bonus points for that?

SHRINK THAT TBR: 2014-2015
Timeframe: July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015
36/36 read
FINISHED: December 16, 2014

A. Read two books from series on your Goodreads TBR list that you have started and not finished. Books can be from the same series or from different series.
1* The Soul Mirror - Collegia Magica #2 - Carol Berg - 7/17/14
2* The Scorch Trials - Maze Runner #2 - James Dashner - 10/7/14

B. Read two books from your TBR list that you own – print books only please!
NOTE: If you don't own ANY print books, you may use e-books or library books that are on your TBR for this task.
3* Making Money - Terry Pratchett - 7/22/14
4* Grip of the Shadow Plague - Brandon Mull - 8/3/14

C. Read two books from your TBR list that will help with two different, difficult challenges. (Like an ABC challenge for which you still need Q, U, & X)
5* Empress of the Seven Hills - Kate Quinn - 9/10/14
6* Shield and Crocus - Michael R. Underwood - 10/8/14

D. Read three books from your TBR list that are by new-to-you authors.
7* The Rosie Project - Graeme Simsion - 7/28/14
8* Enclave - Ann Aguirre - 8/8/14
9* The Snow Child - Eowyn Ivey - 9/22/14

E. Read one book from your TBR list that a friend, co-worker or family member has recommended to you.
10* The Emperor's Knife - Mazarkis Williams - 9/16/14: recommended by Mandy

F. Open your TBR list and sort by date added. Make a note of the number of books on your to-read list. Divide that number in half (if you come up with a fraction, round up), and read the book that corresponds to that number.
EXAMPLE: If I have 450 books on my to-read list, the halfway point would be book #225, so I would read book #225 on my to-read list.
Note: If your “halfway” book is in the middle of a series and you’re a read-in-order person (like me!), you may read the next book from that series instead of your halfway book. Also, if you aren’t able to obtain a copy of your halfway book, you may read one up or one down from your halfway point.
11* My Fair Godmother - Janette Rallison - 12/16/14

G. Set your TBR list to show 75 books per page, and sort by Date Added, newest to oldest. Read two books from the first page of that list.
12* The Bone Season - Samantha Shannon - added to Goodreads: Aug. 14, 2013 - 7/12/14
13* Cress - Marissa Meyer - added to Goodreads: Oct. 23, 2013 - 8/3/14

H. Set your TBR list to show 20 books per page, and sort by Date Added, oldest to newest. Read one book from the last page (or last two pages, if you last page has less than five books).
14* What's So Funny?: My Hilarious Life - Tim Conway - 9/10/14
15* Earth Awakens - Orson Scott Card - 9/22/14

I. Set your TBR list to show 30 books per page, and sort by author, A-Z. Read one book from the first page of that list.
16* Magic Strikes - Ilona Andrews - 8/6/14

J. Set your TBR list to show 40 books per page, and sort by author, Z-A. Read one book from the first page of that list.
17* The Android's Dream - John Scalzi - 8/27/14

K. Set your TBR list to show 50 books per page, and sort by number of pages, shortest to longest. (If Goodreads does not list the number of pages for some of your books, you can use the page count found elsewhere – the author’s or publisher’s website, B&N, amazon, etc.) Read two books from the first page of that list.
18* Coyote Blue - Christopher Moore - 8/9/14
19* The Wind in the Willows- Kenneth Grahame - 8/20/14

L. Set your Goodreads TBR list to show 100 books per page. Sort by publication date, newest to oldest. Read two books from the first page of that list.
20* Graduation Day - Joelle Charbonneau - pub. June 17, 2014 - 7/24/14
21* Dust and Light - Carol Berg - pub. Aug. 5, 2014 - 8/20/14

Since then, Barb, Angie, Suzanne, Chaitra and Connie N. do their best to keep the group fun and running smoothly. Read one book from any of their Goodreads shelves. Tell us who you chose, and which shelf the book is on.
NOTE: There's one Barb, one Connie N. and one Chaitra in the group, but there are two Angies and three Suzannes. If you're using their shelves for any of the tasks in this challenge, make sure you're looking at the member who's a mod :)
