It’s time to sign up to choose our group reads for 2020. We’re going to do things a little differently this time. We’re going to pick selectors each quarter. Hopefully this will make it easier for selectors to remember when it’s their turn. Right now we’re looking for members who want to choose books for January, February, and March. Let us know if one of these months is the only time you can choose the books, and we’ll try to accommodate you. If you aren’t selected, you can volunteer each quarter. If you’d rather be a back-up, let us know.

Let us know if you have any questions or need any clarification.

Since the time to pick for January is almost here, why don't you go ahead and be our first selector for 2020?

Cake and Punishment is also available on overdrive and in my library so hopefully in yours.

Susan | 172 comments Here are the selections for April.
First The Arts the Meg Langslow mysteries (she works with metal and there are always animals) The Real Macaw The Real Macaw (Meg Langslow, #13) by Donna Andrews This series always makes my laugh
an alternate Cooking -restaurant A Dash of Death A Dash of Death (Hemlock Falls Mysteries, #2) by Claudia Bishop

message 24: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 2505 comments Mod
Susan - Thanks for choosing our books for this month! The selected books are always the first book in the series, so the Donna Andrews book will be Murder With Peacocks and the Claudia Bishop book will be A Taste for Murder. That makes it easier for people who haven't started the series. Of course, other books in the series are welcome to be discussed, but we ask that spoilers be used if necessary.

I haven't heard from Ashley, but am working on getting books for May.

Hopefully she's ok and will be able to pick later in the year.

message 35: by Michaela (new)

Michaela I uploaded several series or parts of them that I got cheap on kindle, that all deal with food or baking shops, so could choose from them.

I can´t recommend them, as I haven´t read them myself, but at least there were some I could lay my hands on.

Examples are Case of the Strawberry Cream Stabbing by Jessica Lansberry, Deadly Deals and Donuts by Cindy Bell, Pancakes and Corpses by Agatha Frost or Mango Cake and Murder by Christy Murphy.

Hope you haven´t read all of them and may perhaps choose from those.

Barb agreed to choose our books for May, but she was originally supposed to pick for July. So we'll need to replace her.

Michaela - would you like to choose our books for July?

I can do it, if I can choose those books concerning cakes (don´t remember what themes we´ve got exactly), or I´d find others that fit one of the themes during the next months, as I can´t get them from my library, and some are quite expensive when I have to buy them regularely. :)

Yes, you can pick from your cake books. That would fit one of the cooking themes. Both books don't have to fit the theme - your second choice is totally your own.
