The last regular episode of the year brings back someone who contributed to the best reads of 2018 - author and reader Marion Hill. We talk about the books that work for us and some great reads we've had recently. Jenny also asks Marion to talk about his recent trip to the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Elizabeth☮ | 268 comments I enjoyed this episode as always. Thanks for the shout out! I'm glad you liked Bryan Washington's collection of short stories.

I loved Marion's selections and your discussion. You bring out the best in your guests with your questions and your wealth of knowledge.

Brava to a great year of podcasts!

I'm one reader she's snagged from the podcast! Her first book is on my TBR, but now it's risen above the other 1,914. (This is how I work my TBR - add any book that seems promising, and wait for serendipity to bring it to the surface.) I'm doing the Reading Women challenge this coming year and one prompt is 'a book about food', and since I'm not a foodie I'm looking for fiction where food is one pole of the book, but doesn't hold up the whole tent. Now I've scored two - the challenge is whether to go Ancient Roman or Italian Renaissance. Or both.

What Elizabeth said! Fun episode, and I've added another Jenny Erpenbeck book to my pile.
