1. What did you think of the book?
2. This book combines historical fiction, horror, and supernatural/fantasy. Do you feel it was successful?
3. Were there any parts of the book you felt were scary or made for good horror?
4. Did you feel like you learned anything about the 1920’s?
5. As far as supernatural powers went, we didn’t get a chance to see what many of the characters could really do besides Evie. We have yet to learn what Theta and Henry can do (though we had hints about Theta). What do you think their powers will look like in the next book?
6. The book is told through many perspectives including the victims of the killer. How did you feel about this narrative approach?
7. Out of all the characters, who was your favorite and why?
8. What did you think about the love triangle between Sam, Evie, Jericho, and Mabel?

There was some foreshadowing about the evil that is to come, project buffalo, and Evie’s brother James saying “They never should have done it.” Who do you think “they” are and what do you think “it” is. What do you think project buffalo is? (Remember that Sam is looking for the people responsible for project buffalo as they are behind his missing family)
10. How did you feel about naughty John as a villain? Once you discovered the truth of his history, what was your reaction?
