It’s beyond time to begin thinking about the new year! Hopefully, you have already given this some thought and are ready to start stating your goals for our challenge in the coming year.

Since we all have different numbers of series with variable numbers of books within each series, it's impossible to set plain "number of series" goals for comparison. And, we all have different approaches to tackling our TBR shelves and series. But! We have a common objective in making a dent in those shelves.

So, tell us what you're hoping to achieve with this challenge in 2020? I'll set them up in the Reading Tracker as they're added here.

I’m keeping it simple this year and am going with the following:

1. Get up to date in 20 series
2. Complete 10 series

In 2019, I discovered a love for sprinkling in some standalones, which makes my series reading even more interesting. I’m having a good year as a consequence.

Michelle | 3258 comments I'm starting off low. 2019 was a mixed bag for me. I think I managed to reach my target of completed series but up-to-date? Kept having to moves some to completed.

So 2020 🤔
1. Completed series 10
2. Up-to-date series 12 ( I can always up that later)

I have a few personal tracking I want to do 2020. Wondering how many other are like me.
I read a fair few duets and trilogies 2019 and have more coming in 2020. Always felt wrong to add them to series.
And I wanted to keep track of how many series I divorced. We all have those. The author just keeps adding but nothing changed really . It's the same old thing every time. Some authors just don't know when or how to change it up or stop!

Melissa (melissasd) | 1610 comments I have a lot of standalones that I want to read this year and I don't have many series that I can get up-to-date in. Most of the series I have started are pretty long. I'm going to stick with what I did this year:
1. Complete 3 series
2. Get up-to-date in 3 series

~ Giulia ~ | 104 comments 1. I'll try with the same goal as last year (which I spectacularly failed :P) of ending the year with a shorter Series TBR

- Books read from TBR: 3
(view spoiler)
- Books added to TBR: 2
(view spoiler)

2. Plus I want to read books by authors from at least 10 different countries 3/10
(view spoiler)

Laura 2020-
Same as this year Complete 30 series - 28/30 this year

Get up to date 15 series did 11/15 this year. This is harder I tend to start series that all books are out.

Robin (robinmy) | 3473 comments I'm going for the same as last year:

Finish 10 series in 2020.
Get up-to-date in 5 series in 2020.

Lieke | 1722 comments I’m repeating most of this years goals, I managed to complete most of them this year but I keep failing the read at least 50% of the books I buy. But I’m determined to make it this year! My goal is to lower that TBR a bit.

My goals:
- read 72 books
- read 40 books I bought before 2020
- read at least 50% of the books I buy in 2020
- finish 3 series
- get up to date in 2 series
- Advance in 14 series (includes new started series)
- Read 30 series books (includes everything)

All right everyone! I think I’ve added trackers for your goals, except total books read as that will be covered by the 2020 Goodreads Reading Challenge.

Let me know if I missed anything.

Christina T (crysteena73) | 558 comments Well, I didn't complete my 2019 goal but I made enough progress that I'm not terribly upset about it. So in 2020 I'm making similar goals.

Progress 82/90

Read 90 Books in 2020 of which....
--30 of which are Galleys (26/30)
✔--10 of which should be already owned DTBs (23/10)
--5 or more should be Kindle Freebies (2/5)
✔--Make progress in 10 series (11/10)
✔--Finish 5 series that are completed (5/5)
✔--Get up to date in 5 ongoing series (7/5)

message 14: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melissasd) | 1610 comments My 2020 goals aren't that different from 2019:
1) Read 23,000 pages
2) Read 60 books
3) Read 5 books that have been made into movies/TV shows
4) Read 3 Trilogies
5) Complete 3 series
6) Get up-to-date in 3 series

Victoria (crushedbymytbr) | 76 comments I really need this group because my ongoing series are out of control, yet I can't help starting new ones. So, goals...

✔ 1) Read 25,000 pages
✔ 2) Complete 5 series (started anytime)
3) Up to Date in 5 series started prior to 2020
✔ 4) Advance at least one book in any 5 series started prior to 2020
5) Read at least 2 books from any 5 series started/restarted in 2020

*I am doing a Tamora Pierce reread, only Numair Chronicles (book 2 releasing 2020) will count towards any challenge (except page count, all books count for that) release pushed back
