JoAnne Growney's poetry blog is one of my favorite blogs to read, so of course I have to include Strange Attractors: Poems of Love and Mathematics. I also enjoyed Proportions of the Heart: Poems that Play with Mathematics when I read it a few years ago.

It would be remiss of me not to mention the MathsJamJam song book, which definitely has mathematical themes even if it's a bit of a stretch to call it a book of poetry. (Disclaimer: I wrote several of the 'poems'.)

Sam Hartburn | 14 comments I've just found out about Applied Mathematics. It looks exactly like a maths text book, but is a poetry collection.

I'm rather excited that the author is doing a show near me on Thursday, so I'll get to hear him reading some of his poems.

Sam Hartburn | 14 comments Sorry, it turns out that only a few of the poems in Applied Mathematics are mathematically themed. Still a good book though!

How was the reading? (I mean, the show you went to where the author read some of the poems.)

Sam Hartburn | 14 comments It was excellent. Much smaller than I expected - just a curtained-off area in the theatre cafe. But Dan Simpson was very engaging and brought his poems to life, and the other two poets were also very good. I got carried away in the moment and read one of my poems in the open mic bit, which was scary but exhilarating!
