What is your favorite book to read at this time of the year? Why?

YZ | 21 comments I love to reread "The Polar Express" by Chris van Allsburg because it is magical. My boys would always watch for the moment when mom would tear up.

There is another little gem of a picture book I bought years ago entitled "Wake up, Dormouse, Santa Claus is here" by Eleonore Schmid.(translated from German - a dormouse is called a Siebenschlaefer) Saint Nicholas comes into the forest with gifts for all the animals. The squirrel had promised to wake up Gus, but forgot. Owl saves the day, and the story ends with Gus curled up asleep in Santa's pocket. I love it...

Those sound great and I'll add them to our reading list! Does the library own "Wake Up, Dormouse, Santa Claus is here?"

YZ | 21 comments "Wake up Dormouse.." is surely out of print and I doubt the library ever owned it. It is sweet though. Let me know if you want to borrow.
