Any genre, so long as it is set in a South American country.

Some possibilities:

The House of the Spirits by Isabelle Allende (Chile)
The Disappeared by Gloria Whelan (Argentina)
Latitude Zero by Diana Renn (Ecuador)
Go and Come Back by Joan Abelove (Peru)

Nikki (mnnikki) | 164 comments I read, and loved, The Queen of Water by Laura Resau & Maria Virginia Farinango. Heavily based on a true story & full of so much hope.

Alicia | 19 comments Nikki, it was between The Queen of Water and Fruit of the Drunken Tree for me. I ended up reading Fruit of the Drunken Tree. I liked it. I will have to read The Queen of Water as well.

Alicia | 19 comments It takes place in Colombia during the reign of Pablo Escobar. It's the story of a little girl, her sister, her mom and their young maid.
