Any genre, so long as it is set in an African country

Possibilities:

Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (Nigeria)
Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi (Ghana/America)
The Red Pencil by Andrea Davis Pinkney (Sudan)
Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor (Nigeria)

PsychedandLit I’m looking at Little Bee by Chris Cleave for this one.

Stacy Paxton | 12 comments I’m thinking Girl by Edna O’Brien for this one.

Jennifer Heystek | 4 comments Just finished Monique and the Mango Rains, which takes place in Mali and is about a Peace Corp volunteer who befriends the village midwife.

Willow | 13 comments I just finished Buried Beneath the Baobab Tree by Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani and I really liked it, but it was a serious, difficult subject matter (terrorism) even if it is a YA book. Highly recommend.

Lindsay | 26 comments I read My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite. It takes place in Nigeria. I gave it 3 stars, so not terrible, but not the best. A quick read though.

Instead I read A Long Walk to Water: Based on a True Story by Linda Sue Park. It is based on the story of a Lost Boy of Sudan and intertwines with a fictional, but realistic, story of a girl in Sudan in 2009. Highly recommend it!
