Sarah B | 264 comments Well I have just finished reading Dragons of the Highlord Skies The Lost Chronicles, Volume II by Margaret Weis and I have enjoyed it more than I had expected to. I never have liked Kitiara much during the DragonLance Chronicles, possibly because she was a villian. Kitiara is one of the major characters in this book and I got to know her much better. One of the other main characters in here was Derek Crownguard, a Solamnic Knight. Although he's on the side of the hero's, he also has much darkness in his heart. Derek has the sin of pride and Kitiara has the double sins of lust and jealousy going for her.. these themes continue throughout the book until the conclusion, each character facing problems due to it. One fares better than the other but I won't say who. The story had some twists and we see how the various villians struggle for power.

Like in the other DragonLance books, there's lots of traveling in here. We visit the city of Tharsis to reach the famous Library of Khrystann in search of knowledge about an ancient artifact. We also visit Icereach and meet the wizard Feal-Thas who has a pack of white wolves. Oh, and a trip to Dargaard Keep in Nightlund too.

Of course the heros Laurana, Gilthanas, Flint, Sturm and Tas are in here too.. they come in about halfway through the book and Tas made me laugh. There's dragons, wizards, fights, bravery, Queen Takhisis and even Lord Soth the Deathknight. It's epic fantasy where the God's are returning to Krynn and some people find that very hard to believe after hundreds of years of silence. But the dragons have returned and the war rages on, so the God's have returned. Lots of Dragons and draconians!

This book takes place just before Dragons of Winter Night (Dragonlance Chronicles, #2) by Margaret Weis

All in all I enjoyed it!

Sarah B | 264 comments Well I have finished reading Dragons of the Hourglass Mage (Dragonlance The Lost Chronicles, #3) by Margaret Weis and it takes place right after Dragons of Spring Dawning. Actually if you are familiar with the original DragonLance Chronicles, it follows what happens to Raistlin after he magics himself off of the ship stuck in the Maelstrom - which is actually a very big story in itself. Without Raistlin helping the hero's behind the scenes they would have lost the War of the Lance.

Raistlin has to deal with numerous scheming, crooked people and not all of them are human! There is a long list of unscrupulous individuals he had to figure out, including his own sister Kitiara. Add to that various dragon highlords, the witch Iolanthe, other wizards, Lord Soth, shopkeepers... Who is telling him the truth? Who's lying? There can be schemes inside schemes! But the biggest pains in his side may be the goddess Takhisis and Fistandantilius.

The fate of all magic on Krynn also is resting on his bony shoulders.

I really enjoyed reading this.. these characters are all old friends. 😁 It's fun to read a new adventure with them.

I used this book for the Vision Impairment on the Popsugar challenge.
