This is a weighty read, close enough to hefty to make you ponder should I?
Is anyone planning on reading this one?

That is a really long book, Lesle. I am not participating in this read, but I do hope some one does.

Books like this I feel almost need another month to be fair to it. But than is that a Mini Hefty? lol
With many of us trying to read several books in a month makes it hard to cover one book with almost 600 pages.
We will have to give this one another shot later? Thoughts?

We will have to look at the reads and see if we can split it between two months. Rosemarie we could double it up with a Hefty Read?

We have moved it to the Hefty Reads for October-December.
I think the Classic really deserves this second chance!

I read the first page just to get a feel for the writing style! I’m finishing 2 library books before starting this one. I own it so it can wait. The edition I have also contains “Juneteenth”.
I have a copy too. Just not sure where it is.
When I went through my Mom's books (She was an avid reader as well) I have over 100 books that I kept. I just have a very disorganized room right now. The Plan? To hire someone to make wall bookcases in my to be Library.

I love this idea! Such a gift to have her books. My mom no longer has hers as she got rid of them when she started to not be able to see.
That's a shame Jacquie...sad too.
I went through the titles and remember some of them I am sure I have a dup or two..but I remember for sure this one was included in with hers.

Invisible Man is a novel by Ralph Ellison, published in 1952. It addresses many of the social and intellectual issues facing African Americans early in the twentieth century, including black nationalism, the relationship between black identity and Marxism, and the reformist racial policies of Booker T. Washington, as well as issues of individuality and personal identity.
Invisible Man won the U.S. National Book Award for Fiction in 1953. In 1998, the Modern Library ranked Invisible Man 19th on its list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century.
The narrator, an unnamed black man, begins by describing his living conditions. He reflects on the various ways in which he has experienced social invisibility. (581 pages)
