Lord of the Rings is on the list. I plan to finish this with The Return of the King this year. Can I count it, or does it have to be the whole series read this year. (yes, I know Tolkien intended it to be one book)

If not you can put it in the movie adaptation category. Each book was a separate movie.

Rhonda, if I look at the Goodreads listing, Lord of the Rings is the entire trilogy all together in one volume. The separate trilogy books are named The Fellowship of the Rings, The Two Towers, and Return of the King. So... I say it has to be the whole volume, not the trilogy books.

Yes, I can also put it under Fantasy. I just know the Time list is going to be my biggest challenge of the year. :)
