The Library at Mount Char
question
forgiving and thanking an abuser

Did I miss something? I was really upset with how Carolyn felt that father's abuse was justified in the end. It seems like she forgave and was even grateful for the abuse. Did I misunderstand? Anyone else thoroughly repulsed?

I didn't understand it either. I guess I just accepted it as one of the weird aspects of the book. You are right though, the ending felt rushed and the author should have explained the relationship between the main protagonist and the father better. Leaving a lifetime of hatred after 5 minute explainations in the end doesn't sound likely in any reality.
