Tari (thann) | 313 comments I've been in the group around a year now but never really did an intro, this sounds like fun. I'm Tari from Ohio, happily married for 40 years to the guy I first fell in love with, birthday is August 9, no real fave books but my favorite genre is cozy mysteries. I like a bunch of the authors but some go-to authors would be Tonya Kappes, Krista Davis, Daryl Wood Gerber...I could go on and on (but I won't lol).

I like blue but mainly now the shades of aqua and teal. I'm not really a foodie but if I hung out with my daughter at Epcot enough, I could probably turn into one. Go-to is always either chicken or lasagna. I'm owned by an almost 4-year-old mini red dachshund named Mia. I'm pretty happy living in Ohio but if I was to ever live in CA for example, I'd love Manhattan Beach because of the amazing weather and fun small-town feel. My daughter and I once attended a work conference there.

I know I'm a cozy mystery addict when I pre-order almost all of the cozies that way or find myself just having to collect a whole series for "some day" reading. You know you're an addict when you keep adding to your books but the TBR won't budge! ROTFL!

Liya Hey! I'm Liya. I've just turned 31, I live in northern Arizona, and I'm going to school to be a nurse. I am an introvert to the extreme; when I'm home, I don't want to leave. Books are an escape for me. I want to travel in the future, but until I'm to a point financially where I can, I'll content myself with falling into the made up worlds of people far more creative than me. :)

And, because why not answer a questionnaire?

I also love Goodreads! I love managing and reviewing books, finding new quotes, see what the others thought about various books...so this is my heaven.

message 31: by Ariel (new)

Ariel (aellen) | 129 comments I feel like I do this every year but this year I plan on actually holding myself accountable with my challenges/reading. I miss reading and I feel like when I set such high goals to myself, I psych myself out and avoid books/challenges even though I love it all.

Favorite Book Genre: Mystery/Suspense (Mix a little romance in it? Ah, perfect!)

Jessica (too shy to go out and socialize) | 1 comments Hello. I'm Jessica from the Philippines, living in Japan. As I live in a nonEnglish speaking country, I can't find a community of book lovers here. I wish to be friends with a fellow book lover. I was a Goodreads member few years ago but I went inactive when I started studying in Japan. Our laboratory prohibits the use of the English language. I made a new account here in Goodreads to renew my reading life. I used to read just fiction especially fantasy but for this year, I plan to read nonfiction and at least 2 Japanese novels. I started this year with Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari. I plan to participate in some group reading activities too. :D

Birthday: June 20
Favorite Book(s): The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. The Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson.
Favorite Book Genre: Fantasy. Definitely.
Favorite Author: Patrick Rothfuss
Favorite Color: Red
Favorite Food: Uhhh too many! I love cooking too.
Any Pets: Apartments in Japan are strict when it comes to having pets. Back at home in the Philippines, we have dalmatians, cats, turtles, a pig, and a duck.
If I could live anywhere in the world it would be: I'm quite happy in my place but I wish I have a space for a grand library.
Finish the line: I know I'm a book addict because.... while others put stuffed toys and/figurines on their working desk, I put a book that I won't even read during work hours.

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh hey fellow bookworms. I'll just post my profile description to properly introduce myself:

So what can I possibly tell you and share with you about me that hasn't been said already? I am a thirty-one years old man who has a teacher, motivator personality type (ENFJ) and really loves to read books and novels with beautiful and mysterious covers, preferably from not so distant past. In my free time - although I don't have as much free time as I'd wish to have due to work I have to do for a living - I don't just read books that motivate and inspire me in various different ways but also study various different programming languages through various different online courses and do some coding. One of my missions in life is to be like Mahatma Gandhi quoted his own mission in life, to be the change I wish to see in the world, because I really want to make a difference in many people's lives. Some people may think of me as insane and certifiable because of my crazy, insane, and wild ideas, but I don't really care about those people, because those people clearly don't know me and they've yet to know themselves. Anyway, besides reading books and novels with beautiful and mysterious covers, I also enjoy watching old movies and old sitcoms, and I am sort of a Star Trek and Star Wars fan, because I feel that the both universes are equally good, extraordinary, and amazing. Oh, I love to motivate and inspire people that I meet from all over the world and teach them foreign languages that I know of, and I especially like to make friends with people for whom I know are great and kind at heart and carry a heart of gold. So if you by any chance are one of those people, and you think this description of mine to be quite intriguing, and we share the same taste in literature or at least the same personality, let's connect and let's strike up a conversation about Star Wars, Star Trek, Books of our taste and programming. :)

Really hope you like it. Let's connect. :)

Any Pets: I have two doggos and one kitten.

If I could live anywhere in the world it would be: Hm. Well I just googled "most open minded city in Europe" and got Gothenburg, Sweden....so I guess that's where I'm hypothetically moving to!

Finish the line: I know I'm a book addict because....there are very few things I would prefer to do than read, and sleep isn't even one of them.

Mahi | 230 comments Hi everyone! I'm a college student from Texas. I've rekindled my love for reading and become addicted to reading challenges after starting the Popsugar Challenge this year, so joining this group was the obvious next step!

I don't want to force myself to read far too much so I'm not going to start another year-long challenge now, but I'm interested in doing some monthly/seasonal challenges or challenges with no set deadlines.

Birthday: February 9th
Favorite Book(s): Harry Potter, Kindred, The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, The Song of Achilles, Eliza and Her Monsters, Murderbot Diaries, Discworld
Favorite Book Genre: Fantasy, hands down
Favorite Author: I don't know! I read a lot as a child and middle-schooler and only started reading more in the last year, so I feel like I haven't read enough to have a sense of who I like now.
Favorite Color: Purple
Favorite Food: Cranberry Rice (it's an Indian-inspired food my mom makes and I could eat it for every meal)
