50 books to read before you die discussion

First published 1940, The Heart is A Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers is #54 on our 100 books to read before you die list. What did you think of this book?

I read The Heart is a Lonely Hunter about four months ago. It's off my beaten path, but I enjoyed reading it. It's strong on character building and a bit soft on plat, if I remember correctly. Only four months ago and I can hardly remember it. That's a good reason to have written a review.

I did write a review of her The Ballad of the Sad Café and Other Stories several years ago [https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...] . It's the only other McCullers I've read. I rated both of these books with three stars.
