This is the year for a reread. I can feel it!
I read this when I was in college and absolutely loved it. I never went on to read the rest of the series. I bought myself the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide which has the entire collection. I want to finish reading it now. I re-read this first installment over Thanksgiving and appreciated it even more this time. That rarely happens to me with a re-read, especially when coming at something after decades of life experience. But, this one held up for me. It is just so clever.
Do not forget to bring your towel along for this read.
Finished the read it was as good this time as it has ever been.
I am working my way through the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide which contains all in the series. I just finished #2 The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. Just so clever. But, I think I need a break between each book. The humor is starting to feel a bit repetitive.
I am doing the same although I have not started #2 yet.
I think my favorite character is our depressed robot. He is a hoot.
I agree. My favorite scene is the firefight with the super sensitive space cops.
There is a confrontation involving our friendly depressed robot and a huge intergalactic fighting machine in Restaurant that was so funny.
