I read a couple of times now, that this a problem they've got every year. Or at least last year at the same time. Seems like they're updating some stuff and the button will be back soon. I think no one can do any updates on the reading progress using a browser, but the button should be back soon.

I have the same problem and I don't use mobile at all. I searched "goodreads progress" on twitter though and saw others are having the same problem so I think it's a glitch. A glitch that's been going on awhile apparently...don't know how long it'll take them to fix it. At least I hope it's a glitch.

Same here, but only on my home page. I can update from my profile, maybe you can too. I remember this happening before, it didn't last long so we should just be patient ;)

if you want, you can just click on the book and update your progress that way, but yeah, this happens every year as far as I know.

Just checked myself and I can't update either, hope they fix it and it is only gone temporarily.
