I really want to read A Gentleman in Moscow this year. And I also chose When I Was You as my free e-book. Glad you liked it!

Karol | 221 comments Elyse, I really did like both of those quite a lot. "Gentleman" does not have a fast-moving plot, but I was utterly fascinated by the main character. And the writing was beautiful.

I just started reading the Elm Creek Quilt series and am liking it a lot. I borrowed the Elm Creek Sampler from the library and it has the first 3 books in it. It is like handling an encyclopedia, but the stories are good. A Gentleman in Moscow is one of my favorites.

I agree, Dawn Michelle. I would put it among my top all-time favorites.

Karol | 221 comments 7. The Sign of Four, by Arthur Conan Doyle, 3/5 stars

I was a little disappointed in this one. Still, a Sherlock Holmes tale is always worth reading in my opinion. This one shows what a drug addict the character is, though.

8. The Quilter's Legacy, by Jennifer Chiaverini, 4/5 stars

This is only the second book in the Elm Creek Quilts series that I've read. I liked it pretty well, although it kept going back and forth in time. (Alternating long chapters between current time, and the generation before). I tend to find that confusing at times. But it was an interesting story, and very well written.

9. Back to School Murder, by Leslie Meier, 3/5 stars.

A light and quick read from the Lucy Stone cozy mystery series.

10. The Deer Leap, by Martha Grimes, 4/5 stars.

I absolutely love the Richard Jury series by Martha Grimes. She goes deeper into character development than a typical cozy mystery. This particular book had a messy and sad ending but that made it seem more real to me.

I've only read the four novels and one or two of the short stories, but I remember this being one of my least favorites. I really need to read more of the collections.
