Jennifer Hello Everyone,

I am going to make an ambitious challenge this year. My record number of looks in year is 126 and this year I decided to try and top that number. Since I acquired 131 books in 2019- my goal is to read 131 books in 2020.

Best of luck!

Jennifer Book 1

A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness
5 of 5 stars

I was eagerly awaiting this book. I stumbled on this TV series and loved it. The book of course did not disappoint and was even better. My lovely brother got me all 4 books in the series for Christmas. So I will be starting the next book in the series today.

Description:
Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library. Diana has stumbled upon a coveted treasure lost for centuries-and she is the only creature who can break its spell.

I acquired *ahem* exactly 800 books last year...between free, ARC, purchased and e-book, audio, physical. Last year was the first year I decided to track that number...and was unbelievably surprised by how big it was. lol!! I did not keep track of how much I spent.........

I think I'll be re-reading this one at some point. I wasn't crazy about it the first time around but I want to at least read the second one and I need a refresher.

Yes 131 books acquired last year. See my library has two book sales a year where everything that fits in a grocery bag is 4 dollars. And that leads to a tbr selection of over a 1000 books. But I love my library room it makes me so happy.

The first book was my favorite, but the whole series was good. I need to get around to re-reading sometime.

Jennifer Book 3. Paleo in 28 4 Weeks, 5 Ingredients, 130 Recipes by Kenzie Swanhart

I will hold off rating cookbooks until I have made a selection of recipes. However the alternative white, sugar and diary recipes are looking good.

Jennifer Book 4.
The Lion's Lady (Crown's Spies, #1) by Julie Garwood
4 of 5 stars

I love the dynamic between the characters. Christina had me cracking up.

Description:

Christina Bennett had taken London society by storm. The ravishing beauty guarded the secret of her mysterious past until the night Lyon, Marquis of Lyonwood, stole a searching, sensuous kiss. An arrogant nobleman with a pirate's passions, he tasted the wild fire smoldering beneath Christina's cool charm and swore to possess her...

But the feisty and defiant Christina would not be so easily conquered. Mistress of her heart and of her fortune, she resisted Lyon's sensuous caresses. She dared not surrender to his love...for then, she must also forsake her precious secret...and her promised destiny!

I loved these books when I was a child. I decided to borrow them from the library and re- read them as an adult. I am giving them as gifts to my niece and now we will be able to talk about them.

Book 7.

Jennifer Book 10.
Change your Habits, Change your Life by Thomas C. Corley
5 of 5 stars.
Read this book then immediately started reading it over. I think financial planning and habits to become successful are things that need to be better incorporated into school curriculum. I have requested another one of his books at the library.

Book 11.
The Conception of Terror Tales Inspired by M. R. James - Volume 1 by M.R. James
3.5 of 4 stars

A collection of 4 short stories. I enjoyed the first story Casting the Runes the best.

Jennifer Book 12
Quinoa 365 The Everyday Superfood by Patricia Green
3 of 5 stars

Not sure if was just expecting something more / different. If you are looking for a recipe book using quinoa flour this has it. If you are looking for a recipe book for recipes incorporating more quinoa into meal ideas I feel it was kind of disappointing. Making a salad add some quinoa, baking fish serve on quinoa. I found some good recipes to try but otherwise I was kind of disappointed. Overall not bad just not what I was looking for.
