Hey gang!
Welcome to 2020!! How's everyone feeling after seeing Rise of Skywalker?

Reminder that this is a safe place to talk about Star Wars!! There are no rights or wrongs in this thread. So I'll start with my thoughts and feelings!

There were a lot of things I liked about the movie. Babu Frik...Zorii Bliss...D-O and the hilarity of C3PO in this movie!! All amazing.

But overall the sequel trilogy is just not for me. I wish so much that Rian and JJ had sat in a room together and mapped a plan for this trilogy together. I think that would have been fantastic. But the threads created in both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi were just not connected for me. And everything was left in order to wrap this trilogy in a bow with very little satisfaction.

It feels to me as if George (for all his faults) was telling a beautiful story over 2 trilogies. And while his execution was sloppy in many places, the story just speaks to my heart and feels important and timeless.

With the sequel trilogy, it feels as if the execution is gorgeous and meaty and sweepingly beautiful with interesting characters, beautiful planets and interesting additions to the world of Star Wars, but the story is fractured, disjointed and tries to tell us things are true without earning the journey.

BUT! that is one woman's opinion!! I want to hear all your thoughts, excitement, etc. Whatever you have to bring to the table...BRING IT!! You are welcome to share all things here!

Happy Reading,
Lizzie

N.E.C.C. | 60 comments I agree with everything you just said. For me the movie was a disappointment, it was entertainning for sure and there are good things about it but you can tell that they had no plan at all, they tossed movies to diferent directors and they brought their own writers and they did whatever they wanted to.

This trilogy was notnecessary at all. Even though you can have fun with it, it feels like the OT but with new characters. MY favourite of the trilogy is The Last Jedi but Rogue One is the best one of the Disney era.

Justin (jtefft) I enjoyed the movie. I thought they closed out the story well, we got closure on the original cast and it was fun to watch.

I saw it twice but feel like I can wait to see it again when it comes out on digital.

What I appreciate about the newest trilogy is that it provides a springboard for a new generation of books and content. It also gave us some cool new characters, some back story on things we might have wondered about and speculated about but never really understood.

I’m kind of big on filling in gaps and this movie gave me some answers on a question or two I’ve wondered about for a while. I appreciate that.

Kellie | 68 comments I absolutely loved the movie! I thought it was very well done and tied everything up neatly. I love all the Star Wars movies, including Solo and Rouge One. I can’t wait to see what they do next.

uproc (uproc73) | 3 comments The movie was okay. I loved TFA and LJ but this one was sort of a letdown. Don't get me wrong, there were elements I loved in this one. I Predicted back when the TFA came out the Rey was a Palatine and Finn was force sensitive. I Loved the redemption of Ben Solo. I just wish there was more direction and building on these things. Star Wars is and will always be the franchise that fuels my soul for Space Opera.

Mario Codes | 3 comments I enjoyed the movie, but it felt more "disney" than pure Star Wars to me. It's a shame they didn't want George Lucas input. Nice special effects though.
