I'm Peggy. I live in Pennsylvania, USA. Scotland is so full of talented author's and I love reading them! Looking forward to reading some vintage books and several author's I didn't get to last year. I am spending the month of May in Scotland this year! Can't wait. Mystery is my favorite genre. Looking forward to getting to know all of you and seeing what you read!

Nicole | 19 comments I'm Nicole and I live in Germany. I love reading and I love Scotland, somehow in the last years I started to read a lot of Scottish books.
I like to read about places I have been to and of course all the places I haven't been to yet to plan another holiday.
I love mysteries the most but read nearly everything. I also like a romance every now and then.
I have no plan yet but I am sure in the end it will be more than 25 Scottish books.

Robert Kroeger | 1 comments I joined Goodreads in December and have made some friends. It’s nice to be among fellow readers and writers. I’ve written several books on golf in the UK and Eire and have written one on longevity, based on the lifestyle of a friend of mine, Mike Fremont, whom I’ve known since 2007. I’ve learned a lot from him. He set a world marathon (26.2 variety) for his age in 2012, though he’s backed off to half-marathons for now. He’ll be 93 next month. Sharp as a tack.

I realize that it’s not appropriate to do self-promotion but, taking a risk, I’ll mention that fellow lovers of Scotland might like my new book, The Secrets of Islay, which is free on Amazon from Jan. 5 to 9. It will raise funds for the students of Islay high school – for their mission trip to a third world country. I’d label the book creative non-fiction and I hope it gets picked up for a movie. Now, if I can just get in touch with Steven Spielberg … (and Sean Connery)

Happy to be in the group.
Bob

Beth Mast | 25 comments Hi, I'm Beth from Indiana USA. I have always been fascinated with Scotland/Ireland. I love finding new authors. I do enjoy the typical romance, however I am feeling they are all basically the same. A good ghost story or phsycological thriller is always good. Thanks for starting this challenge again this year.

Glad your back Beth. I agree about romances, that's why I don't read them anymore.

Elwin (starbrow) I'm Elizabeth, and I live in Fife in Scotland, but I'm from America originally (have lived in Phoenix, Arizona, and Dallas, Texas). I just want to be sure that I'm reading books from my adopted home as much as possible. Shouldn't be hard, there are many fine authors here such as Ken MacLeod, Charlie Stross, and the late Iain Banks.

Elizabeth, we're so glad to have you join us! And you'll have so much more easy access to a lot of great books we might have trouble finding here in the States! Can't wait to see what you read. Would love to hear your story of how you came to live in Scotland. I am envious!

message 9: by GeraniumCat (new)

GeraniumCat I'm Jodie and I took part in Read Scotland 2014, though my year got too busy and I didn't read or review as much as I wanted to. Last year I only read books by and about Scottish women - this year I'm not going to restrict myself, because there are quite a few books by Scottish men lurking on my TBR pile; my total last year would have been higher if I'd been allowing myself to read them. There will be lots of mysteries again. Oh, and I live just on the English side of the Scottish border, but I grew up in Scotland. I love this challenge - thank you to Peggy for running it.

Yyour welcome, Jodi! Glad your back! Where in Scotland did you grow up?

message 11: by GeraniumCat (new)

GeraniumCat I grew up in Perthshire, Peggy; later on I lived for many years in south-west Scotland too, and I worked in Edinburgh for about 12 years. With visits to friends and relations I feel I know the whole country quite well.

Sara Sheridan | 1 comments Hello, my name is Sara Sheridan and I'm a Scottish author. I write crime fiction and historical fiction mostly - the Mirabelle Bevan mystery series is amongst them.

I've just stumbled upon this group and it's great to see people taking an interest in Scottish books! My own reading goals for this year are to read more non-fiction and some contemporary political books. I'm also fond of classic mysteries but I usually keep those for when I'm on holiday and can properly enjoy them!
