I'm reading two at the moment both of them chunksters. I have a 5 hour train journey on Sunday so so good reading time there

I think the Boy in The Striped Pajamas is Historical Fiction, so you should give yourself more points :D
Is the bonus an extra 5 points on top of the points we get for any given category or a category of its own?
The bonus five points is in addition to all the other points you have earned. Each time you read a bonus book this month you get five additional points!
In which category do I put graphic novel/comic book?
Dora, that's up to you! If it can count as one of the genre reads for the month, you could add it there. If it's part of another mini challenge that you're doing, then you can count it there. Failing that, you could count it as a shortie or a general book, depending on the length. There are lots of possibilities! Usually what I do is take a look at where it will fit and then of those, select the category that will give me the most points. Does that help?

If yes the January total is 19.5, if not I'd count it as chunkster and not as new book/ new author ... but then I'd count one of the two historical books as new and that'd leave me with 18.5, er, I guess.
James, I added 5 points bonus to my chunksters and they are also in other categories, so you can have 5 points extra for Americanah :-)

Wow, everyone has done a great job in scoring those extra 5 points for the chunksters. Fantastic! As Renee said, these books count as extra points, meaning you can count them in their regular category as well as get the extra 5 for the bonus!

Hi Leah - just following up on Renee's note about how to count the books. Feel free to count a book as two categories IF one of them if the bonus (chunksters for January). If the book you're counting doesn't qualify for the bonus it counts in only one category. Hope that helps but feel free to reach out if you want to chat about it further.

Definitions:
A GENERAL book is any book you read this month (not covered by another category).
A GROUP READ book is limited to the books nominated and chosen by the group and discussed in the Group Read folder.
A GENRE Challenge book is any book that fits the Genre of the Month.
MINI-CHALLENGE books are 3 points each. There is an additional 10 point bonus for completing a challenge that involves several books.
For example, the Holiday Challenge is a 3 pointer, because it only requires one book. Something like the Continental Challenge, however, could get you 34 points upon completion. (3 for each category, plus 10 point bonus for finishing)
