Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Nnnnoooooooo! I did not know that there were two more books in L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time series. I read them in middle school in the early '60s. I always had fond memories of them. I bought the first book for my daughter but she nor her sisters ever cared to read it. My granddaughter read it but never cared to read the rest.

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments I'm astounded, too, Cherie!! I loved/still love A Wrinkle in Time trilogy, but two more books I didn't know about?!!?

message 11: by Tejas Janet (last edited Jan 07, 2015 12:09AM) (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments That makes me a little sad that your daughters and granddaughter didn't care for these :(

However, I'm happy to report that my nephew at age 5 wanted to go to bed early just so his dad could keep reading this series to him!! :D

message 12: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Yeah, didn't you notice that it said "quintet". ROFL!

message 13: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments I read the 1-3 in childhood and young adulthood as stand alone books. Never saw "quintet" until goffering for this series challenge : ) Now, I want to read 4 and 5. Maybe reread 1-3 first.

message 14: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I am thinking the same, TJ. I wonder how they will feel now?

message 15: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Cherie, I'm liking them. I picked up with book 2 (during mystery date toppler) because I've read book 1 numerous times, including last about 10-12 years ago. Read book 3 over the last few days.

I'm liking the series tho not to the same "it's amazing" level I felt/feel for book 1. I'm looking forward to reading books 4 and 5 - and killing off my first series and reaching 100 points. Yay, almost there!

message 16: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I am glad you are still feeling the same about them, TJ. I might have to revisit them again. There are so many things that I still remember like it was yesterday. I know that I read the last two, but they are not as clear to me. Maybe, if there is time before the challenge is over, I will order them from the library.

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments I've decided to scrap His Majesty's Dragon for now. Just not in the mood. Can try again some other time. That's how it goes sometimes.

So I recently read two books with the same title, "Feet of Clay." I read Feet of Clay because I inadvertently reserved it from the library! But i decided, what the heck, give it a go and I liked it. Turned out it was part of the Sunny Childs mystery series : )

Then i went on to read the book i meant to in the first place which was Feet of Clay in the Discworld/City Guard series. I liked it a lot, too. Pretty funny.

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments I'm substituting Neuromancer in my level three plans in place of "His Majesty's Dragon," which i tried out as an audiobook and couldn't get on-board with. I just seem to always have trouble with audiobooks. What's wrong with me?

Any way, I'm doing a read-along with my husband and one of our local good friends so i'll have them to discuss with. It's regarded as a classic in sci-fi, and it's where the term "cyberspace" originated.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I liked the Terry Pratchet book too!
