message 1: by Audiothing (new)

Audiothing I posted a review to Audible only to have just a part of it appear, I tried to edit but can't find a way do do so.
It would be unacceptable, not to say a bit silly if Audible forbade edits, so, please how do I edit?

Jeanie | 4024 comments Silly or not, I've never found a way to edit an Audible review. It's especially frustrating when I've realized I accidently clicked on the wrong number of stars and want to re-do it but... no edits. If you find a way, let me know.

I might email them directly. If edits are not allowed then I don't think I will bother putting up any more reviews. If they can't look after those who provide them with some extra site traffic, then I guess we are of no value to them.

message 4: by Jeanie (new)

Jeanie | 4024 comments Maybe the "of no value" is a little extreme. But I find myself writing fewer reviews because I've found in the past that my opinion may evolve over time about a story so I wait before commiting myself in writing... then I move on to the next book and forget about the previous one. Most of my opinions about books end up in the Audiobook threads as a result--and nowhere else.

Hey Bec,

At this time, customers are unable to edit their reviews, however hoping to make online review editing available in the future.

In the meantime, please contact us at "social-support@audible.com" and we'll be happy to help you with this request.

Thanks!

I feel the same Nospin.

Lilmissmolly | 83 comments I asked the same thing two years ago and got same response. When I requested a slight change from customer service via email (I used the author's name instead of the narrator's name), they deleted the entire book from my account!

message 9: by Karlton (new)

Karlton (karltonst) | 54 comments The tight hold Audible has on its reviews is ridiculous. I even called them a few years back and was told there was nothing they could do. I no longer participate in Audible reviews.

message 10: by Nospin (new)

Nospin | 232 comments I just did a review today using the Audible app on my phone.

It has an edit feature now!

Thanks Audible!

Jeanie | 4024 comments Has anyone tried this on the web site?

message 12: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessical1961) | 519 comments I have not tried it the website, but I have not seen any app updates for my Android app allowing me to edit reviews either.

It showed after I submitted the review. I had the option to edit if I wanted to.

I don't know if it shows on website but that option wasn't there the last time I did a review on my phone - about 7 weeks ago.

Eta - I see no way to edit my reviews from the website. Hopefully they are working on it.

Squallogal (squally) | 1 comments Over a year on and this issue with Audible still hasn't been fixed? Awful customer service.

message 15: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (stewartry) | 196 comments I love a lot of things about Audible - but this whole issue is a huge strike against them. I realized I posted a review to the wrong book in a series, and it took just short of an act of God to get it deleted.

It's especially odd since they're owned by Amazon, and Amazon reviews are open to editing.

message 16: by Philippe (new)

Philippe Tremblay | 1 comments I managed to edit a review by simply making a new review from the Audible app (iphone). Hope this helps. I would agree that it is a definitive failure on their part to not have included this feature on the website yet....

message 17: by Sterling (new)

Sterling (sterlingf) | -24 comments I didn't notice at first that you couldn't edit a review, so I was writing reviews for every book I read. Then I wanted to change my review of a book and I couldn't change my opinion. I was pretty annoyed by this to say the least. Ever since then I have refused to write a review. I will rate books, but I will not write anymore reviews until audible changes this ridiculous policy.

message 18: by Michael (new)

Michael | 1 comments I've also been looking for how to edit, or delete reviews that i've posted in the past. I'm also afraid to post my opinion anymore, just like the others on here, because i've also come to realize that my opinion on how i feel about a book changes over time. I wish they'd fix this.

message 19: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessical1961) | 519 comments The only thing I review on Audible anymore are books that I received specifically to listen to and write a review of it. I only give star ratings to other books that I have purchased on my own. However, I still review them on Goodreads, and if there was an ebook involved I also leave a review on Amazon.com.

message 20: by Adam (new)

Adam Wiemers | 1 comments I was typing a review on my phone when my thumb inadvertently brushed the "submit" button. I was only two sentences in and it submitted the review mid-sentence. When I found out I could not edit the review I couldn't believe it. Every respectable site lets you edit your reviews.

Today (8/23/16) I decided to review two writers on Audible and unfortunately was a bit careless and used the wrong name on one review (right book though lol) When I tried to find the edit bottom and I couldn't find it I googled it. I found this forum and when I read that they do not allow it. I contacted their customer service and although the girl was polite and nice, she avoided my questions as to why we could not edit. After asking a few times with no real answer, she told me that they would remove my comment but it would take 24-48 hours!! I could not believe this. I am an voracious reader and have taken on the habit because I have a long commute to listen to audible. 171 books since 2013 and more on kindle and twice as much in paperback and such...So in the end they were of little help and left me disappointed because I might cause offense to a writer I admire. aaarrrggghhh I ended up putting my account on hold for three months and I'll reevaluated when that time comes.

This has happened to me too. When I wrote to customer service they said the only way to get rid of the review was to delete the entire book from my library, which would also delete the review. They also said, they were "working on this issue" - but that was two years ago and I'm still waiting on the ability to edit reviews.

Tracey (stewartry) | 196 comments I love Audible - but they're shifty sometimes.

Meredith (meredithabernathy) | 1 comments I just edited a review on my Audible PC desktop app!

I was happy, because I was raving about how a book helped me in my fiction editing, and then realized too late that I left out an important word.

(I haven't found a way to edit reviews on the website or on the iPhone app, however.)

Contact Audible customer service. They will try to help you with whatever problem you have.

John | 3917 comments I had to edit one once over a very messy looking typo in the title. I believe they could only delete the entire review, so that I could repost it correctly.

message 29: by Deedra (new)

Deedra | 172 comments That is what they told me they'd do but they did not follow through on deleting the original review

message 30: by Kren (new)

Kren | 1 comments I also wanted to delete one of my reviews and could not do that from my desktop. I used the audible app on my phone, located the book and clicked on "write a review". I wrote a completely new review and it automatically replaced the review I had written from my desktop.

I hope this helps someone who is frustrated by being unable to edit or delete a review once it is posted.

message 31: by Megan (new)

Megan | 1 comments This has also frustrated me. I know my friend can edit her Scribd reviews later on, and I assumed I would be able to edit my Audible review of a book as I got deeper into the book. Silly me... And now to see that people have been given the run around for YEARS is ridiculous. Reviews are vital for products and books.

I'm reading cases of being told 'oh we'll add it soon', entire reviews and books deleted, being assured action would be taken only for nothing to happen.. What terrible customer service and business.

I'm listening to a book and some elements of it just keep getting worse and worse (so much time is spent saying how attractive all of the main characters are, for example, and one's mother is described as 'elderly' yet she works, cleans, fosters, and apparently looks good for her age of 63. If 63 is 'elderly' then my own mother is in for a shock!). Anyway, it is VERY possible for someone to feel a certain way at one point and then change, notice something new, read the book a second time, etc.

This sounds like it is discouraging people from leaving review, which just hurts the whole process. So incredibly unfortunate.

As for the most recent post from yesterday - I have actually tried that but to no avail, myself. I go to 'Rate and Review' but is just says "You have already reviewed this title". Glad you had better luck, but no idea how!

Michael | 2 comments For all those interested. I joined this group just to leave this comment on how to edit your reviews. Using your Android or iPhone, click on the "before you go" section of the book you want to review in the Audible App, then leave a review. You will have to type it all over again, but it will update it on the site in seconds unless it has to be reviewed. Using an app like Vysor that allows you to view your phone on your PC (for Android phones) will allow you to copy/paste in chunks. It's ridiculous that we have to do these things. But I like leaving reviews and I am damn sure not going to leave typos in mine even if Audible doesn't care...

message 33: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (stewartry) | 196 comments It's a little bizarre that only someone with an Android or iPhone can do it. I don't have a smart phone of any sort, and if I did I don't see myself using Audible through it. It's not only ridiculous, it's weird.

Agreed, It's totally bizarre, I'm just pointing out the facts and how I do it. I think Audible is ridiculous for not having an edit button...

Charlie Jenkins | 1 comments Almost 4 years after Audible said they were working to provide this option they still haven't done so - at least, they haven't provided a front door to do so through the website. They're a major ecommerce company very capable of offering a simple edit feature if they want to. They're part of Amazon, which has editing. I don't grasp their motivation but it's obvious they don't want you to do it.

message 37: by Sassafrack (new)

Sassafrack | 2 comments Im having the same problem. In my audible app, it says I’ve already left a review and can’t do anything more. In the kindle app, i can write it in the before you go section. But it won’t let me tap on stars, therefore I can’t click submit.

I have sent this email

Why can’t we edit our reviews. I have made a mistake and need to correct it. From what I can see on forums, this is an issue that audible has claimed it was going to address for at least 5 years. What is the point of me leaving them if you don’t care to make sure they are correct and accurate?

I will post any response I receive.

They don't want or they simply don't really care? Which is bad anyway!

message 39: by Simon (new)

Simon | 15 comments On Audible UK, they introduced an Edit Review feature recently.

I have used it a few times, mostly it works well and quickly but I have tried to update one review at least where it hasn't worked.

Are you on one of the other Audible platforms? If so maybe it's coming your way soon . . .

message 40: by Sassafrack (new)

Sassafrack | 2 comments Hello Sarah,

Thank you for contacting Audible!

We currently do not offer a feature that enables customers to edit their already posted book reviews. We're truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If you'd like, we can remove your review and you're more than welcome to re-submit a review for your title at your leisure.

If you'd like to have this review removed, please let us know so we can forward this request to our back office team and care for it accordingly. We will be looking forward to your prompt reply.

Thank you again for contacting Audible. If you would like additional assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Sincerely,
Heather R

Robin P | 1721 comments I would guess it has something to do with their marketing. They want to be able to use certain reviews to play up particular books. Basically they own your review, you don't, which is probably in the fine print somewhere. Maybe they are afraid you'll change your mind if you don't like something else the author wrote or said or did.
