Haunted In Death is a novella originally appearing in Bump in the Night. Our BR will move straight from Memory into this one before moving on to Born in Death. Please join us!

Originally from the Anthology Bump in the Night

Number Twelve is an urban legend in 2060 New York City. The hot club in the 1960s, it is now reported to be haunted …and cursed. Lieutenant Eve Dallas is called there to investigate the apparent murder of Radcliff Hopkins, its new owner and the grandson of the man who made Number Twelve a cultural icon. Several bullets from a banned gun end his dream of returning the building to its former glory.

With everyone around her talking about the supernatural, pragmatic Eve won't let rumors of ghosts distract her from hard evidence. The case becomes even more bizarre when it appears to be linked to the suspicious disappearance of a rock star eighty-five years ago. As Eve searches for the connection, logic clashes with the unexplainable. She may be forced to face the threat of something more dangerous than a flesh-and-blood killer.

Anyone else reading Haunted?

Michelle | 2651 comments I must have read it but I just can't remember it.

I didn't really remember it either, Michelle. It's not one of my favorite novellas so maybe that's why.

Of all of them, it's my least favorite novella. It has its moments but the whole story just bored me.

lorii (Loriidae) Jonetta and Sandra - I agree my least favourite as well - but it will be a quick read, I will just treat it as a step to Born in which is one of my favourites.

That's the spirit!

Great attitude! That's what I did.

Michelle | 2651 comments And that's what's getting me through as well. It just doesn't feel right.

Must say I liked Eve's argument for not wanting a ghost around.

Michelle | 2651 comments Really had to slog through this one. I think I've been spoilt by the other novellas. They add a little something to the growth of characters but this had nothing.

message 13: by Vera (new) - rated it 3 stars

Vera M. | 446 comments One of the charms of this series is the characters. This novella I felt the character interactions were rushed into little snippets. Didn't really get the same joy from that aspect. The crime aspect wasn't too bad for being a novella and not in a full length novel, she fit a lot in a few pages.
