Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments Ok, I finished. I'll continue with the series to see how the story continues.

I'm disappointed with the plot.

The last chunk of the book was all about the feels. On the emotional front, this book gets a A++. Plot progression, reasoning and details? C-

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments I will be here soon... Running behind on everything...

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments No rush! Post when you can and I'll dive into the chats. =)

Narilka | 5692 comments I think I'm starting tonight.

Mel | 2360 comments Take your time Choko. I'm stalled/running behind on everything as well, so I'll be starting late myself. Looking forward to everyone's comments and conversation.

Bill | 2150 comments Started yesterday haven’t got that far yet.

Re:Nyphron & Seph (view spoiler)

Narilka | 5692 comments I'm finally through Ch 3. I'm in a semi-slump so reading kind of slow at the moment. (view spoiler)

Narilka | 5692 comments Through Ch 9 (view spoiler)

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments I am close to the end, but not quite there yet... I am tired, but I am just so emotional, I can't stop reading... I have been in the hospital with a friend these last few days, he is not doing well, but I have been listening to this book while waiting and it is only making me more emotional... I love it, but it hurts... And I wanted to shake Persephone several times - for a smart woman, she sure has been stupid through most of this book...

message 13: by Soo (new) - rated it 3 stars

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments Aw, I hope your friend will get better. If you need any suggestions for lighter books, I'll send them your way! This one is too packed on the negative side.

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments So, you sure are right, this is written to move us, but a ton of the choices plot wise, I would not have done it as MJS did... It is his story though, so I have to trust in him...

message 15: by Soo (new) - rated it 3 stars

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments Eh. This was an emotional snowplow of epic specs but I expect better reasoning & plot developments from MJS. Many of the big plot events come across as heavy handed deux ex machina type of unlikely. A couple would have been "woah, that's a cool coincidence" but there are too many to take it that way. It actually threw me out of the story a lot.

I am curious to see how the series will end but lowering my expectations so I don't get too upset about it.

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments I cried like a blubbering fool this morning when I finished it! Yes, life is very difficult for me right now, taking care of a person who is literally disappearing infront of my eyes and reading this... I am not this strong, so Soo, I am taking your advice and going to catch up with you in the Space Team folder. I love these characters already, and MJS is just being too hard on my heart... The story itself definitely comes in far second comparative to the characters. In my opinion it was the weakest of the three so far. The way he resolved the battle was a bit lazy, seeing the resolution of book 2. I also expected better than that. Saying that, it still completely leveled me with grief... And as I said when I started reading the series, I don't foresee any happily ever afters at all, which makes me hurt even more... I need a break from sad stuff. Cal, here I come!

Narilka | 5692 comments @Choko Hope you friend feels better soon.

Narilka | 5692 comments Oh man. Reading both of your comments I expect to be in for a tear jerker. I have recently suffered loss in my life which I'm sure doesn't help where this is heading.

Ch 18 (view spoiler)

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments Agreed on the placement of the raow.

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments Yeah, the whole Raow thing kind of came out of left field... I wonder if it was there just to give a reason for the two of them to meet...

Narilka | 5692 comments Maybe? Or to add drama to an already tense situation? Not sure.

I was too tired to read last night. Hope to get more in tonight.

Narilka | 5692 comments I finished. Yeah, that was a sad book. I enjoyed it though, more than the second one.

message 23: by Soo (new) - rated it 3 stars

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments What did you like more in this one vs #2?

Of the three, first one was the best as a whole for me. #2 & 3 pretty much collapsed suspension of belief too much.

Narilka | 5692 comments @Soo I think the first was the best overall for me too. #2's pacing was so uneven and all the inventions. Plus I found it outright boring in places. #3 I at least enjoyed some of the character work again, was surprised (view spoiler) and, even though we'd seen it before, I liked Raithe's sacrifice. The battle scenes were well done and I do love good action. All that helped me overlook the things that annoyed me (view spoiler) And Malcom is my new favorite character. I really hope we get more of him later. I think I'd probably give it a 3.5ish stars if GoodReads allowed. I saw I gave #2 only 3 stars so went with 4 stars to show I liked it more.

Mel | 2360 comments Hey, so just started, squeezing it in under the wire. This way I can read the next couple books fairly back to back and indulge in one after the other. Also, I admit I was a bit loathe to start since I saw hints of depressing things to come. I'll try to steel myself for the tears.

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments Yes, I cried! I am an emotional sap...
