Writers, find your genre and "put your book on a shelf!" If you have a pic for your book, be sure to add it! Here are the rules:

ABSOLUTELY NO CASUAL CONVERSATION ON THE GENRE BOOK SHELVES. To prevent the bookshelves from being cluttered with casual chit-chat that could annoy our precious readers and potentially drive them away, I can not allow any replies or conversation in the genre rooms. Writers only can post and then, only their books can be posted. All non-book posts will be deleted. I will do my best to re-post them to the cafe, but can make no promises. If you see a book that is so amazing you have to tell the author please PM them or tell them publicly in the cafe, here on "About The Room" or in the "Tell the Author" thread.

Rules for the Writers:

1. No more than one post per book.

2. Include a release date. If you don't have one, provide a "projected" date.

3. Post books under their appropriate genre. If you do not see your genre, let me know and I will make it! I have a 12 hour response time. If you have a crossover, message me so that we can discuss putting your book on multiple shelves.

4. Absolutely no book excerpts! Back of the Book blurbs and tag lines only.

5. Use this format when posting:

Author: Your name or pen name
Book Title: Your book title
Book Photo: A thumbnail of your book if you have one.
Genre: Any genre or sub-genre. This is required.
Release Date: A release or projected release date.
Websites: Up to 3 links that you want to share, including an author page or a link where readers can buy your book.
Summary: You have 140 words to say anything you want about your book. 140 words. And that's it.

I have a short story on Kindle I would have to classify as "literary" (yes I can't stand that term, but that's the genre term that works for it). Which thread should I put that in?

Not sure which book your'e looking at, but both are on Amazon. No Punchline is exclusively on Amazon, as that was self published.

This is a great idea Angela. My new release is December 2014 - is that OK? Don't think you have a genre for this. It's an anthology of short stories celebrating Senior Citizens (of which I am very much one). The E-book should just about be ready for January 2015.

If your book is on Goodreads, there is a hyperlink "add book/author" located to the right above the comment box. Click it while you are in edit/type mode and a window opens. At the bottom of that window it give you two options "link" and "cover". Select "cover". The default setting is "link". let me know if you need more help :)

I write literary fiction too, and I take your point. I met someone recently, a university lecturer in fact, and when I told him I write literary fiction, he said, 'What's that?'

So pleased to have found this group! What a great idea too. I have a novel coming out very soon that fits the women's fiction category. Goodreads doesn't appear to acknowledge the existence of such a thing. So maybe it would be good here to have a plain old 'fiction' bookshelf for those who don't fit into the other genres. Then I can post a blurb about ASYLUM. Cheers, Isobel
