Author: Agatha Christie
Have you seen the show with the same title? No, I haven't. I might watch the animated Netflix show sometime, but I don't like horror so I'll pass on the movie with this title.
Would you recommend this book? Yes. I've read a few forgettable Poirot novels in a row. This is a reminder of how good Agatha Christie can be.

Have you seen the show with the same title? Yes.
Would you recommend this book? Absolutely

Lilith (lilithp) | 1073 comments Title: The Follower
Author: Koethi Zan

Have you seen the show with the same title? There's a comedy with Dean Cain with this name, and a coupe of terror films - totally unrelated.

Would you recommend this book? Yes! Character-driven mystery. The most intriguing to me was the off-the-force detective, even moreso than the abducted young woman or the wife of the kidnapper.

Trigger warnings: sexual violence, other violence. The sexual violence is pretty much alluded to or hinted at, as in the past.

Author: Blake Crouch
Have you seen the show with the same title? I Love the Sci-fi tv show Dark Matter. I thought this book inspired it so I added to my TBR list without reading the description.
Would you recommend this book? I quite enjoyed this book so if sci-fi is your thing check it out.

message 6: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Meltzer | 40 comments Title: Invictus
Author: Ryan Graudin
Have you seen the show with the same title? No I have not the movie title Invictus is far from the sci-fi novel that had interested me for it's premise
Would you recommend this book? I did generally like the book but it did get this feeling that it was either a conclusion to a book series or the start of a new book series. To my knowledge it's more stand alone type work. Also felt the pacing was a little wonky but it's a time travel story so not judging too hard on that front.

Viktoria Valkova | 33 comments Title: The Nightingale
Author: Kristin Hannah
Have you seen the show with the same title? No and having read the description in IMDb I don't plan to watch it either.
Would you recommend this book? I think my expectations were to high or I was put off by the many inconsistencies. It was just ok for me, so I wouldn't particularly recommend it.

Pam (bluegrasspam) Title: Me: Elton John Official Autobiography
Author: Elton John

Have you seen the show with the same title? No. It's a 2014 movie titled Me that I have never heard of.
Would you recommend this book? Absolutely, especially if you grew up listening to Elton John's music.

Would you recommend this book? the book was a quick read, lots of cute quirky chapters. I love books that make me laugh out loud and this was did a few times.

Ariel | 126 comments Title: Landline
Author: Rainbow Rowell
Have you seen the show with the same title? Nope
Would you recommend this book? Not really...it was a quick and engaging read but the more I thought about it, the more I disliked it. Story was decent but the main characters were frustrating and the ending didn’t really come to a resolution. Two stars.

Celine (cljt) | 15 comments Title: The Institute

Author: Stephen King

Have you seen the show with the same title? I wanted to read this book, checked on IMBD... and lucky me there is a 2017 movie with the same title. I didn't see it and don't plan on watching it.

Would you recommend this book? Mostly yes, I liked the idea, the characterization and general feel but I felt it was a looooong book and that it tended to drag on at some points. I was also very unsettle by the 1st part that had (at first) nothing to do with the description on Goodreads.

message 14: by Amy (new)

Amy | 29 comments Title: The One

Author: John Marrs

Have you seen the show with the same title? No

Would you recommend this book? Yes! Very interesting book! DNA test will determine the person you are matched with. The book follows 5 different characters through their journey.

Have you seen the show with the same title? No, I haven't. Not sure if I will or not.
Would you recommend this book? Yes, a tougher read than I anticipated, but so many delicious layers.

Alicia | 125 comments Title: The Five
Author: Hallie Rubenhold
Have you seen the show with the same title? No
Would you recommend this book? No. I get it. It sounds really interesting. But it's not. It really isn't. Also while posing as a feminist take on these victims, it actually seems like the author does not think that murdered prostitutes should be valued and highlighted.

message 20: by Shannon (new)

Shannon | 552 comments Title: Queen of the Sea
Author: Dylan Meconis
Have you seen the show with the same title? I have not-- I wouldn't mind seeing it, though!
Would you recommend this book? If you enjoy alternate history and middle grade writing, absolutely!

message 21: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 901 comments Title: Galapagos
Author: Kurt Vonnegut Jr.

Have you seen the show with the same title? Yes, I love a good nature documentary, especially in far flung places

Would you recommend this book? Not really. For a book less than 250 pages is really seemed to drag on

message 22: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 25 comments Title: The Late Show
Author: Michael Connelly
Have you seen the show with the same title? well of course

Would you recommend this book? Absolutely, this was actually a Libby recommend that I borrowed while I waited to the monthly read to become available at either the library or through Libby. I will be checking out more by this author for sure. Side note of course the moment I started this the Nightingale became available so I am now using it for a book where the Olympics took place.

message 23: by Trish (new)

Trish (trishhartuk) | 265 comments A bit late, but...

Title: Dark Matter
Author: Blake Crouch

Have you seen the show with the same title? No, I'll admit it. I watched the first episode, but then somehow I didn't watch any more.

Would you recommend this book?
Yes. I enjoyed it, although it did remind me a lot of Pines. He does seem to love dumping his main character in inexplicable trouble, and have them run around a lot, trying to escape from things.

message 24: by Drakeryn (new)

Drakeryn | 708 comments Title: The Light Brigade
Author: Kameron Hurley

Have you seen the show with the same title? Nope. Never heard of it until I finished reading the book, when I was like "I wonder where I can slot this..." and ran a search on IMDB.

Would you recommend this book? Yes! It's fast-paced military sci-fi involving (minor spoilers?) (view spoiler), which is one of my favorite things when done well.

message 25: by Udari (new)

Udari | 38 comments Title: The Nightingale
Author: Kristin Hannah

Have you seen the show with the same title? The movie named The Nightingale was released in 2018 and the synopsis doesn't sound very interesting to me so I won't be watching it.

Funnily enough, there's a movie based on the book scheduled for release in 2021 The Nightingale (2021).

Would you recommend this book? Yes! Kept thinking about the book long after I read it.

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
