I have no idea what book I am going to start with. I have company for the weekend, so it is rather busy here, but I'll find something soon. I am excited about this Readathon-reading and sharing books together this week!

I am starting with Vienna Blood by Frank Tallis. It is the second book in a series I have begun recently.

Kirsten (kielianne) | 40 comments hoping to finish The Invention of Hugo Cabret today which I am already 200 pages into (so dunno if it counts for this) but then will see where I go next.

message 5: by Anne (new)

Anne | 274 comments I will probably do a lot of switching between different titles. I have 3 library books due next Saturday, so I would like to finish all of them. I also have a buddy read that starts today, and I still need to read that first section. Other than that, I have an audiobook in progress, which I would like to finish.

Kristen, your book sounds interesting. Anne, I usually have several books going at once as you have described. It sounds like you have a great assortment going.
Good luck to both of you.

Kirsten (kielianne) | 40 comments Just finished The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick. I really enjoyed it. It was a fairly quick read and the text pages are interspersed with illustrations that continue the story. So very artsy and an endearing story overall. I needed that after the slog that was getting through my previous book The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.

message 8: by Ann A (new)

Ann A (readerann) I have three books in progress and would love to finish them this week:
Olive, Again
Fleishman Is in Trouble
Caravans

message 9: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kielianne) | 40 comments Though I have several books "on the go" I just started UnWholly tonight and hoping it will keep my interest through to the end quickly so that it won't join my graveyard of "currently reading" books.

I have finished Vienna Blood by Frank Tallis and enjoyed it because the characters pulled me in. The book is set in 1902 Vienna and is an unusual mystery because psychoanalysis and Freud are an integral part of the plot, but I found it intriguing.

Betsy (betsbara) | 2 comments So I haven’t done a RAT before but one of my goals this year is to read more. So I finished two books this weekend - The Store by James Patterson and Shattered Bonds by Faith Hunter! I am into my third book Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo. Hopefully I can finish this one by tomorrow night! At least that is the goal.

message 13: by Anne (new)

Anne | 274 comments I finished my first book o the RAT: Kill the Queen. I've never read anything by this author before, but I really liked it. I will be trying other books by her (in this series and others) in the future. I've also read 60 pages of Elizabeth of York: A Tudor Queen and Her World, and I am about to start reading The Black Tulip.

message 14: by Ann A (new)

Ann A (readerann) 64 pages yesterday, so that's a start. Hope to read more later today, after the Super Bowl...

message 15: by Betsy (new)

Betsy (betsbara) | 2 comments I just finished Ruins and Rising by Leigh Bardugo!!!

message 16: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kielianne) | 40 comments @Betsy I keep hearing good things about Leigh Bardugo’s books. I haven’t read any of hers yet but hope to soon.

message 17: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Hale (kahale) | 16 comments Read 68 pages of The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. It's fun so far. I like the way she notices people's expressions when they lie to her.

Precious is a great character, isn't she?

message 20: by Ann A (new)

Ann A (readerann) Day Two - I read 68 pages, for a total of 132 so far. I've got work (well, hardly work) ahead in order to finish my three in-progress books this week!

Welcome to your first RAT! You are certainly off to a great beginning. The purpose is to read what is comfortable for you for the week and hopefully knock a book or two off your TBR shelf. We also enjoy sharing books, which usually ends up increasing our tbr stacks. lol

I like that, too. Don’t you love finding a great book?

message 29: by Anne (new)

Anne | 274 comments Although I haven't had much free time this week, I have gotten some reading done.

1.Kill the Queen finished, last 267 pages
2.Elizabeth of York: A Tudor Queen and Her World 210 pages
3.The Black Tulip 89 pages.

Now I just need to find time for my 2 library books that are due Saturday and haven't started yet.

message 30: by Ann A (new)

Ann A (readerann) Well, I finally finished a book: Fleishman Is in Trouble. I didn't love it, but I'm trying to read the entire short list of the Tournament of Books.

Page total so far: 425

Hoping to finish at least one more book in the next 2 days.

I have found some really great books and broadened my interests through the Tournament of Books; however, I have never read the entire short list. Kudos to you!

Finished Serena by Ron Rash.

message 36: by Ann A (new)

Ann A (readerann) I didn't get as much reading done as I wanted to this week (can I ever read "enough"? Probably not!)

I did finish one book and read part of 2 others for a total of 500 pages. I'll probably finish another book today.

Hope everyone had a good reading week and at least got to read a little more than usual.

Ann, congratulations on an extraordinarily successfully reading week. I definitely understand what you mean by never getting enough reading time. : )

message 38: by Anne (new)

Anne | 274 comments I completed most of what I wanted to finish this week. I finished my audiobook, the reading for my buddy read, and 1 library book. I'm about 140 pages from finishing another library book, and the 3rd will get renewed. Considering how busy my week was, I'll consider that a successful read-a-thon.

Books:
1.Kill the Queen - last 267 pages
2.Elizabeth of York: A Tudor Queen and Her World - last 482 pages
3.The Black Tulip - 89 pages
4.Warrior of the Altaii 198 pages

Total = 1,036 pages
