Alexis | 861 comments I usually write during the weekend, a few hours here and there while Netflixing and text messaging with my friends. It's not ideal, lol. You?

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments How can you work with background distractions?!! I have to have silence. If my phone rings and I'm in the 19th century, or some other country, I stare at it as if it's just plopped down from Mars.

Mind you, at the moment I'm not writing at all. Can't wait to get into the new place and settled and then I can tap away in silence and immerse myself in another world.

Valerie Sells | 50 comments Weekdays, I usually end up getting work out of the way in the morning and early afternoon, then writing happens late afternoon or evening. Usually involves plugging in my headphones, listening to either a specific playlist for my story or some general music that fits the mood I'm going for, and then type, type, type until I can't do anymore. Also do some writing at weekends but that's more random times when I feel like it amongst other things, the process is much the same though.

That's funny, because I absolutely cannot write in silence! lol Ah well, the world is much more interesting for us all being so different :)

I write now in the evenings from eight o'clock on and in my bed. I used to write in different rooms of the house, but I find it too distracting. The same thing happens in my vacation home- I wait until I'm in bed and then begin after I've cleaned all my emails followed up on anything.

Virginia Rand I'm in a really good position with my writing. I work in a restaurant and usually get a 4pm to 1:30am shift, so I just turn up an hour or so before my shift and write there. Plus I can pop in on days off and camp out with free tea refills (in exchange for hopping in if someone calls in sick).

Sela (selacarsen) | 4 comments Ideally, I write M-F from 8a-noon, then do author business stuff in the afternoons. But life is never ideal, so occasionally I skip a day or two to do other things.

I write in relative silence, just household noise, although if it gets loud I close my office door. Occasionally, I'll put on a Skyrim soundtrack or rain sounds that are good white noise.

Occasionally, I'll do a write-in with other writing friends (virtual or IRL) and we'll do sprints, then chat between.
