Elsa Mastico | 1 comments When I was 14 I read a book of short stories about forest animals that were all connected somehow. It was a very old book and pretty short in length. The first chapter is about a skunk or similar animal heading towards these bright lights. He is excited that the movement may be a fellow friend or potential mate. When he gets there the bright lights are headlights. In the second chapter two owls fly overhead and one takes note of the dead animal in the road (from the first chapter).

The third chapter then starts with small rodents who get “attacked” by the owls (it was from their point of view). Anyway the POV keeps changing until the end of the book where all of the animals are surrounding this dead deer and worrying about the future of the forest as the deer was the protector of the forest. My mom does not remember me reading this book and my grandmother doesn’t remember owning a book like this. It has haunted me for 10 years and I’ve never been able to find it even on google. Any help would be appreciated!

Sue Elleker | 1050 comments I did think it might be one of the "Farthing Wood" books by Colin Dann; specifically "The Siege of White Deer Park", but I don't think it matches. You might want to take a look at them anyway.
