Susan C (sacorwin) | 906 comments January Wrap-up

Thanks to Rachel for giving me the idea to do this (okay, I stole the idea from her...)

Here are my stats at the end of January:

Personal Challenges
110 book reading goal: 23/110 = 20.9%
Ultimate Reading Challenge: 14/50 = 28%

Yearly Challenges:
Complete Works Challenge: 2/9 = 22.2%
Non-Fiction Challenge: 5/24 = 20.8%
TBR Randomiser Challenge: 5/20 = 25%
Debut Novel Challenge: 2/5 = 40%
Listopia Challenge: 1/12 = 8.3%
Let's Turn Pages Challenge: 6,930/40,000 = 17.3%
A-Z Challenge: 14/26 = 53.8%
I-Spy Challenge: 10/25 = 40%
#Readwomen 2015: 7/10 = 70%

Quarterly Challenges:
1st Quarter - One, Two, Buckle my Shoe: 4/7 = 57.1%

Monthly Challenges:
January - Goodreads Choice Awards: 3/3 = 100%

This is the first year I've been part of this group, and I went a little crazy on signing up for challenges. I've had a lot of time to read in January, so I've way ahead of schedule for everything but the Listopia challenge. I may need to increase the number of books for some of these challenges!

I agree, Meg, although I'm going to wait awhile before raising my targets. I want to see how much reading time I have over the next few months first. My biggest goal is to get my TBR list down to a more reasonable amount (without deleting anything...). I've stopped adding books to it, which is sad to me, because it's soooooooo long.

Cassandra | 5832 comments I have the longest TBR list. I've resigned myself to the fact that I won't get to every book on the list, but if I don't at least add the book to the list, it doesn't even have a chance of getting read.

Good luck with your challenges this year! They look like a lot of fun.

Amy Foulkes | 179 comments This is amazing. I love all the statistics you keep. What a great way to keep track of what you are accomplishing. I may also steal your idea of the unlimited time challenge for the countries. That is a great way to diversify reading without it becoming a chore.

message 29: by Susan C (new)

Susan C (sacorwin) | 906 comments Thanks, Amy! Feel free to steal the challenge (because I stole it from someone else - don't remember who). I also stole the monthly statistics :-) I went so challenge-crazy this year that I needed a way to make sure I was on track. Otherwise, I had visions of me needing to read multiple books every day in December.. lol. I have a few yearly challenges that are almost done, so after that, I need to give more focus to the 50 states and the country challenge.

Thanks, Jackie! Feel free to steal it. I went crazy on challenges this year, and figured out that this was the only way I was going to keep on track. I didn't want to have to get to December and be stressed about completing challenges.

Well, I actually think that it was that I had too much time on my hands, and I didn't want to clean my house... lol. I love to read, and I really don't have other hobbies to occupy my time. I also went a little crazy on challenges, so that helped push me over my 110 book goal.

I set my 2016 goal at 140, and I'm actually hoping that I come closer to that number, rather than way over, which will indicate that I have more of a life outside of books :-)

Cassandra | 5832 comments That's true, it's good to have balance. I've found myself replacing other forms of entertainment (TV, movies, video games, etc.) with more reading this year, but I realize that I should probably branch out a bit so I have more to talk about with my friends. I don't have too many real-life book friends - thank goodness for Goodreads!
