Zel Polev Yes, I know she was Rachel's best friend at camp but I thought she would play a more important role. She gets mentioned a lot of times and the memory charms block Trent and Rachel from remembering her. I thought this last book would resolve that bit of mystery but she just disappeared and was never mentioned again. I thought she would be the witch with no name but I guess not.

Did I miss a book that shed more light about their childhood? I wish more was said about that because Trent and Rachel's relationship developed so quickly and abruptly. I wanted something to explain it, maybe something in their past.

Veronica I only really recall Jasmine being mentioned in one or two books very early on in the series. Given that rachel met her at a camp for terminally ill kids, I always figured that she's been long dead. To be honest, I've never given her a second thought.

I don't think Trent and Rachel's relationship happened all that abruptly. I think it was an excruciating slow build with the final turning point coming in Pale Demon. That was book nine, meaning that even if Trent and Rachel had no interactions or history with each other prior to that point, they still had five books (from that point) to build a relationship - which is about equal to, and in a lot of cases more than, most other well-known UF couples get. That said, I would've loved to have gotten some more insight into their childhood days at camp. It would've been fun.

Zel Polev I was wondering if Jasmine was mentioned in the novellas since I don't read those. It was just that her mention seemed significant in that Trent freaked out when Rachel remembered and forgot Jasmine's name in the bridge. It showed Trent being humanized, a hard task that early in the book. In another book, Rachel wondered what Trent would give for her name, meaning it was a bargaining chip that was worth something. I figured the mentions warranted at least something.

I thought the relationship was abrupt in the sense that Trent went from wanting to kill her and him being described as looking at Rachel with hatred in his eyes to someone who wants to help her all of a sudden. I wish there was more of a transition in between.

Clare Mcdonough I thought the Trent Rachel relationship changed over a number of books, I dont think it switched like a light switch, even in the beginning when he trapped her in that tank when she was a mink.

As for Jasmine, I got the impression that she had died, that the genetic medication for Rachel didnt work for Jasmine.

I felt Kim stayed true to her characters throughout and as someone who lost a childhood friend very suddenly I don't talk about her, I think about her occasionally but its not something I dwell on.

These are just my thoughts and I am lost now that there are no more Hollows and I need another series to get my teeth around :)

Veronica As far as I can remember, Jasmine is not mentioned in any of the novellas. I really don't think Kim ever had any plans for her to be anything more than the name of someone Rachel knew from camp, and a way to have Trent and Rachel's paths cross at camp.

I never really thought Trent truly wanted to kill Rachel and especially not after book three and their adventure on Lee's boat when she kept him alive and then he kept her alive. I think that's when he began to really respect her, or her code for living at least. I mean, he wanted to drive her car and she let him. She helped him, unasked, with his Halloween costume. Staying for a waffle breakfast. It was always little, unguarded moments like those sprinkled throughout the earlier books that always indicated to me that the two never really hated each other as much as they might outwardly claim. But mileage on this obviously varies and that's all good. :)

I'm just going to miss Rachel and all of her crew. Hard to believe that I have no new Hollows books to look forward to in 2015. I hope I like Kim's new series.
