Jennifer Oakley | 35 comments Hi everyone! We're a bit into 2020 now, but I just found this group. My 2020 challenge is well underway! In addition to reading 50 books this year, I'd also like to get my feedback ratio at NetGalley up. I just joined over there, and I might have initially requested too many books ...

So far in 2020, I've read:
1. An Echo in the Bone
2. Something Rotten
3. A Map of Days
4. The Glass Magician
5. Oryx and Crake
6. World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War
7. A Man Called Ove
8. Now and Forever: Somewhere a Band Is Playing Leviathan '99
9. Dandelion Wine
10. Long After Midnight: 22 Hauntings & Celebrations
11. The First Emma

Jennifer Oakley | 35 comments 12. Weave The Lightning. This one started out a bit rough, because it just dropped you into the middle of a fantasy world, without a lot of explanation about the world. But once I hit about 50 pages and figured out the world, I really loved it!

Jennifer Oakley | 35 comments 13. Roanoke Ridge: A Creature X Mystery. DNF @ 30%. Absolutely awful book.

Jennifer Oakley | 35 comments 14. The Other Mrs.. Really enjoyed this one. Great little psychological thriller.

Jennifer Oakley | 35 comments 15. The Holdout. Decent thriller, with some uncomfortable observations about our justice system.
16. The Dark Continent. Did not like this one. Literally half of it was nothing but violence.

Jennifer Oakley | 35 comments 17. Goldilocks. Billed as "The Martian meets The Handmaid's Tale", and it absolutely delivered.

Jennifer Oakley | 35 comments 18. Treasure of the Blue Whale. A charming little story about what happens when a small town strikes it rich.

Jennifer Oakley | 35 comments 19. The Glamourist. Second book in the Vine Witch series. It had an interesting setting - turn-of-the-century Paris, but with real witches and real magic. Fun little story.

Jennifer Oakley | 35 comments 20. Sorry for Your Trouble: Stories. A poignant, but slightly depressing, collection of short stories that explore the aftermath of love and loss.

Jennifer Oakley | 35 comments 21. Fractured Tide. A fantastic adventure story featuring scuba diving, a deserted island, a sea monster, and weird time loops. Loved it!

Jennifer Oakley | 35 comments 22. These Lost & Broken Things. A rather idiotic story of the "murderess with a heart of gold" that makes a lot of stupid choices.

Jennifer Oakley | 35 comments 23. City. A series of connected short stories in which mankind has left Earth, leaving behind intelligent Dogs who can speak and their robot companions. Not as charming and heartwarming as I expected, given that it features dogs prominently. But a good read, all the same.

Jennifer Oakley | 35 comments 26. The Color of Magic. Delightful, lighthearted fun.

Jennifer Oakley | 35 comments 27. Night. Sleep. Death. The Stars.. Really, really long book about the repercussions of a death in the family. Highly recommended.
