Challenge: 50 Books discussion

Hi everyone! We're a bit into 2020 now, but I just found this group. My 2020 challenge is well underway! In addition to reading 50 books this year, I'd also like to get my feedback ratio at NetGalley up. I just joined over there, and I might have initially requested too many books ...

So far in 2020, I've read:

10. Long After Midnight: 22 Hauntings & Celebrations
11. The First Emma

12. Weave The Lightning. This one started out a bit rough, because it just dropped you into the middle of a fantasy world, without a lot of explanation about the world. But once I hit about 50 pages and figured out the world, I really loved it!

13. Roanoke Ridge: A Creature X Mystery. DNF @ 30%. Absolutely awful book.

14. The Other Mrs.. Really enjoyed this one. Great little psychological thriller.

15. The Holdout. Decent thriller, with some uncomfortable observations about our justice system.
16. The Dark Continent. Did not like this one. Literally half of it was nothing but violence.

17. Goldilocks. Billed as "The Martian meets The Handmaid's Tale", and it absolutely delivered.

18. Treasure of the Blue Whale. A charming little story about what happens when a small town strikes it rich.

19. The Glamourist. Second book in the Vine Witch series. It had an interesting setting - turn-of-the-century Paris, but with real witches and real magic. Fun little story.

20. Sorry for Your Trouble: Stories. A poignant, but slightly depressing, collection of short stories that explore the aftermath of love and loss.

21. Fractured Tide. A fantastic adventure story featuring scuba diving, a deserted island, a sea monster, and weird time loops. Loved it!

22. These Lost & Broken Things. A rather idiotic story of the "murderess with a heart of gold" that makes a lot of stupid choices.

23. City. A series of connected short stories in which mankind has left Earth, leaving behind intelligent Dogs who can speak and their robot companions. Not as charming and heartwarming as I expected, given that it features dogs prominently. But a good read, all the same.

26. The Color of Magic. Delightful, lighthearted fun.

27. Night. Sleep. Death. The Stars.. Really, really long book about the repercussions of a death in the family. Highly recommended.

29. Recursion. Absolutely fantastic.
