John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5193 comments Thinking about the book, there's several levels with puzzles to solve that finish in a big action sequence, with the end of the book the biggest of all. Now where have I seen this structure before? Video games of course!

If The Witcher can be a book and then a video game, so can this one. We've got an interesting magic system and a load of characters. You could choose your team for each level. Maybe even play as different characters on replay of a level. Bring it on!

I agree that it seems a bit like the structure you might find in a game.

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5193 comments The author has good taste! Not only is Gideon the Ninth her top pick for a video game from a book, she also includes LeGuin's adorable illustrated work "Catwings." I could see Catwings for the "Viva Pinata" crowd.

Lee (the Book Butcher) (butcherfromgeorgia) Gideon the ninth would really make a great video game. wonder if Tamsyn Muir is a gamer. would probably be a better game than book like Witcher.

Lee (the Book Butcher) (butcherfromgeorgia) I don't really see Tomi Adeyemi children of blood and bone being that adaptable to video game format but it is so good you can count on it seaping into all media formats. audible has a great version I'm listening to the second in the series now. I can't recommend it enough!

Opinions differ on that one. I thought that book was a badly written string of cliches that we’d seen a thousand times before. Adeyemi hasn’t done herself any favors by falling for her own hype, either. When she went after Nora Roberts for having a book with a slightly similar title really showed how immature and ignorant of publishing Adeyemi is.

Although I did love Roberts’ reaction to her, which was essentially, “Who are you?” 😂

That sounds like a "Souls" game with those frustrating screen messages...You Died...

Trike | 11190 comments Speaking of video games, last night in City of Heroes I made a Mastermind (pet-controller class) based on the amazing cover art of these books. In this case I chose a Necromancy Mastermind, which means controlling zombies and lichs.

(Goodreads is twitchy about links these days, so if the images don’t appear, just click the direct links.)
