March is Women's History Month!! And to celebrate we're hosting a month long readathon in the style of last year's October readathon.

HOW IT WORKS:
- NO NEED TO SIGN UP . Just leave a comment below so that I know you'll be taking part.
- Use the random picker (link below) that will pick what book you will read first from the list of books.
- Once you've finished a book you can use the random picker to pick the next book you will read out of the list of books.
- If you aren't able to find a copy of the book that the random picker has picked for you to read next then you are allowed to put that book to one side until you manage to find a copy and use the random picker to pick the next book you will read instead.
- ALL BOOKS MUST BE READ TO WIN.
- It's a race! First to finish the most books is the winner!
Push yourself to read as many as you can but remember HAVE FUN!

THE BOOKS:
- You can check out the list of books for this readathon here: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/1...
- You can also add books to the list on the link above (as long as it follows the guidelines specified on the link) before the readathon starts.

Countdown to start of readathon: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...
Countdown to end of readathon: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...
LINK TO RANDOM PICKER: https://www.classtools.net/random-nam...

Please read if you're confused:
HOW THE RANDOM PICKER WORKS:
- Everyone runs the picker themselves when they’ve finished a book and everyone will probably be reading completely different books at the same time. You can access the random picker from the link posted in the first message at the top of the page.

- So the way the picker works is that you click on it to spin it and then it’ll randomly select a book for you. When it does the book name and author will pop up in a message on the page (and it gives this cheer that’s either cute or annoying, you decide😂) and there’ll be a button saying “remove name” (it says name because its original use is to select names of kids for teachers in classes). If you click that button it’ll remove the book from the wheel for as long as you leave the webpage open.

- As soon as you close the webpage that book will appear on the wheel again because the changes you made to the wheel by removing the book weren’t saved. But that’s fine. It’s not likely the picker will choose the same book for you twice (it’s a 1 in 250 chance!) but if it does then just spin it again.

- If 2 people are on the webpage of the random picker at the same time and person A removes a book from the wheel that won’t effect the wheel person B is spinning and the book will still be in person B’s wheel (don’t worry I’ve tested this). Last time I hosted this kind of readathon in October last year I didn’t realise this and I gave everyone individual links but now that I know this everyone can use the same link given at the top of the page and it’ll work fine.

Same! It's going to be fun doing this style of readathon again!

What do you think of these dates for it to run for:
Friday 6th March to Friday 20th March ?

message 5: by jessica (new)

jessica (abookishjess) | 684 comments could we do it until friday 27th march? to add an additional week?

I don't see why not! Sounds good to me. I have a feeling we're going to end up with a long book list for the random picker like last time anyway.

message 8: by jessica (new)

jessica (abookishjess) | 684 comments i've got the same feeling😂 but i'm definitely not complaining. the more strong female characters the merrier!

Mel (Epic Reading) (mel-epicreading) | 97 comments So (as usual) I have a dumb question...
Do we each run the picker ourselves and read that book (and then remove it) or does one person in group run and we all read same book?

message 28: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 516 comments No, each of us have our own random picker (it’s the same link) and all of us are reading different books. For instance, my first pick might be Three Dark Crowns and yours might be Girls of Paper and Fire. But it’s the same link

Mel don’t worry it’s not a dumb question I should’ve explained it first sorry!

Everyone runs the picker themselves when they’ve finished a book and everyone will probably be reading completely different books at the same time. You can access the random picker from the link posted in the first message at the top of the page.

So the way the picker works is that you click on it to spin it and then it’ll randomly select a book for you. message 33: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments So regarding your information, I can't save my removed books from the wheel, right?

Dana wrote: "So regarding your information, I can't save my removed books from the wheel, right?"

No but the picker still works without removing your books from the wheel! The only way it could ever present a problem is if the picker picks the same book for you again and if it does that then just spin the wheel again. I hope that clarifies it for you! Only a few days left now till we start!

message 35: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 516 comments I spun the spinner and I got The Bone Houses as my first read!!

message 36: by jessica (new)

jessica (abookishjess) | 684 comments my first reads are Three Dark Crowns and The Diabolic! I’m listening to the first on audiobook and reading a physical copy for the second

Elizabeth (elizabethkirkpatty) | 106 comments My first book is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo! Luckily, I already own this book, but never read it

Mel (Epic Reading) (mel-epicreading) | 97 comments Matilda by Ronald Dahl
One of his I haven’t read! And ebook copy was available at library immediately. Off to a good start. 😊

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 4277 comments Mod
I spun the wheel and it was the most anxiety filling thing😂 The arrow slowly stopped and just passed one of the lines so my first read is going to be The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter! I'm interested to see what this one is like because I've never actually heard of it and usually I've at least heard of popular YA books....
Anyone read this book?

Also, can I just say it's so awesome to see us all getting different books to read I'm so excited to start what is hopefully going to be a successful readathon for me!

Mel (Epic Reading) (mel-epicreading) | 97 comments Alchemists Daughter has been on my TBR for some time. Hope it’s great!

message 42: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 516 comments I’m halfway through Strange Case of Alchemist’s Daughter (I’ve been reading it since the last October readathon oops) but I like it so far. And also the reason you haven’t heard of it it’s because it’s not YA. It’s Adult. But I do like it. I will warn you that it’s a bit slow.

Ahahhaha you've been reading it since the last readathon😂 Honestly I would do the same though. Oh no. It's slow? Well it's all over guys. Any chance of me reading at least 5 books for this readathon has gone out the window😂 This is gonna be tough. But I did start off the year with a slow read and I managed to finish it so who knows!

That's my favorite Dahl book. I'm not watching the movie because I don't want to see it butchered.

message 45: by Kadi, Creator (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 4277 comments Mod
@Audrey I’ve read the book and watched the movie multiple times and I have to say I think it was a pretty good movie adaption. You didn’t like the movie?
Matilda was never my favourite Roald Dahl book and I’ve read a lot of Roald Dahl, when I was young someone got me this huge treasury hardback Roald Dahl book and I owned a lot of his books separately too. I think Fantastic Mr. Fox and Giraffe, Pelly and Me are my favourite. And I have a favourite poem of his too because he wrote a lot of great poems. Wow, I’ve just realised I’m a big Roald Dahl fan😂 I also went to the school he went to as a kid it was called Repton. I went to the Dubai branch of it but it’s an English school and they have a school house named Dahl after him even though in his autobiographical book Boy he wrote about how he hated it there. I read all the Dahl books before I went there and it’s just a coincidence I did and I was only there for 1 year😂 I sound like a super fan now😂

message 46: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 516 comments @Kadi But that’s pretty cool that you have such a big connection with Dahl! There’s nothing wrong with being a fan.

Don’t get me wrong, Strange Case is really good. It just takes time to build up the plot or for anything to make sense. I’m hoping to finish this one and Butterfly Yellow this month so I can get it off of my currently reading!

message 47: by Kadi, Creator (new)

Kadi P (kadi_p) | 4277 comments Mod
Yeah I guess there’s nothing wrong with being a fan I just didn’t want to look like a crazy super fan😂😂
And yeah it’s definitely a slow build up. I’m about a chapter in and reading every page I’m just waaaaiting for it to get to the point. So many unnecessary details could’ve been cut out I swear. Like why was the rain mentioned in detail like 10 times just in the first chapter😂🤦🏻‍♀️ It’s funny because I read the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in school and I actually hated it so all the references I can see in this book now to the original story are cool but I didn’t like the original story so...

Mel (Epic Reading) (mel-epicreading) | 97 comments Ohhh rain that sounds as interesting as rocks were to Tolkien. Ugh.
I’m glad to have spun Matilda. It’s a fun read! Goes nicely next to the beast I’m also trying to read (Gideon the Ninth) that is almost too dense for its own good. Almost.

Matilda honestly is a fun and light read. I wish I'd got it too😂 Enjoy it next to that dense mammoth book you're reading!

Luke Quaranta | 1 comments This is my first time participating. My first spin I landed on The Stonekeeper (Amulet Series Book1 ). My school library had it, and I checked it out, just finished it. My second spin landed on Circe. I have never heard of it, but I looked it up on Goodreads and it looks cool.
