Her Body and Other Parties is a collection of short stories. Let's use this thread to discuss the short story: Inventory

What did you think about this story?
This one was written in fragments. How did this choice shape the story?

Lavender (breakingthecyclepodcast) | 26 comments short but not simple enjoyed it more than heinous all the relationships and interactions with people can be stories that tell us how it can end or with who but she was alone after all that but she never caught it after all that time but maybe she did a beautiful way of showing how she loved and who not to much or too little just right with this one

Annie | 48 comments Yeah, I liked it a lot.

I liked that you slowly discover that this isn't a list of conquests but a remembrance of what used to be and who and what the narrator is now. You are essentially growing up with them. Makes it all so sad afterwards.

Florian (laughingflow) | 241 comments I agree, I did not perceive it as a list of conquest but as a list of memories. Each memory was like a step in the journey of relationship that actually helped growing.
It was quite audacious to write.

At first, I admit I was a bit uncomfortable (I'm quite modest).

Frances (francesab) Was this inventory because part of the virus' effects was memory loss? Was this a way of reminding herself?

Interesting to write of a plague without discussing the actual effects of the virus, and particularly timely at this moment.
