I'm making 2015 a catch-up year in general. I need to catch up on reading the books I've purchased but haven't read yet. So I'm making goals:

Owned Physical Book Challenge
Goal: Reduce the number of unread books I physically own. The number is currently 421.

I love the concept of this challenge. I did not do very well in my efforts last year.

I will need to review my shelves to determine a good read to reward ratio. I also have the Audible complication.

Oh! I love this Challenge! I wish I could blend it with my existing challenge(s) but so many of my FoF TBR and Series TBR are still unowned, so I'm not exactly sure how I would do this.

Great challenge! I might have to do the same, I own way too many books that I haven't read...

Oh I know it doesn't have to, the thing is I would like it to, I just don't know how to make that happen.

My current goals are to catch up on as many of the very many missed FoF reads from this year, get in at least one book a month from the FoF reads in the upcoming year, and get in whatever I can in the series challenge for the year.

The problem, is out of the 44 unread FoF reads of 2014 I currently own exactly 10; Six of which are the first in a series and only one of those of which I have the whole series.

Oh Hon, I bow at your feet for attempting only buying one new book for every ten read that you own. That's Herculean!

I finished Battle Royale, FINALLY! And, in an awesome coincidental turn of events, I actually had a duplicate of The Terminal Man on my GR shelves, so I had a space for the book that my boyfriend accidentally purchased for me through Amazon - meaning I don't have to count that one as my reward. Woot!

OK question for you guys... I got a review ARC from William Morrow publishers - should that count as my "reward" for finishing my 10 books? It is a physical copy of the ARC.

I'm thinking no, because I didn't pay for it... but it's another book added to my physical stack, so I'm torn. What do you think?

I don't think price (or the lack there of) should be a factor here.

I would add it to your unread physical count, but I wouldn't burn up your reward book for it. That will up your count total, but when you read it then you will count it as a credit - offsetting the addition. You shouldn't have to read 10 books to earn it though.

Though I kinda like Nicki's idea of saying yes if you requested it. Truth is, I would do the same thing with that book your boyfriend bought you.

The book the boy got me is a wash, since I had a duplicate of another book on my GR shelves, and once the dupe was removed it came out even. So I'm not counting that one.

I will count the ARC though. I didn't request it from them, but WM PM'ed me and asked if I'd be interested in reviewing it, and I agreed, so it's pretty much the same thing.

True, you had the opportunity to turn it down...

I kinda broke my audiobook challenge. :(

Audible is having a sale and I bought 5 books. Technically, three were OK because I'd earned them, but two were not OK, and I didn't use Audible credits for any of them, which means that I still have at least 13 to use before the end of my subscription year (Feb) or I lose them. As it's been 9 months and I haven't used a single one... I'm thinking that I need to step up my audio game.

So... my visit to Goodreads kinda ruined my Owned TBR challenge. Because even with all of the owned books I've been reading (and I need to update) I'm still backsliding! Though it seems to have only pushed me back 5 books... but still, with THIS goal set up, that means I have to read 50 owned books to make up for them. *SIGH*
