Please post your nominations here. One nomination per person and per author. Nomination thread will be up for one week or when we reach eight nominations. If possible, please include the link to the book you've nominated.

Eligible nominations should be written and published in Great Britain between 1837 and 1901.

Janet Smith (janegs) | 167 comments Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens--it's on my reread list for this year, and I'd love the company :)

Nicholas Nickleby has been nominated for our June read as well. We may need to keep it to one or the other. Is there another book you’d like to nominate here, Jane?

We don't second any nomination in the Victorian group. You can make a nomination of your own Tammie, Brittany, and Nidhi. :)

Brittany (Lady Red) (ladyred19) | 152 comments Okay, The Odd woman then. My phone refuses to do links properly sorry.

Nidhi, we read Shirley last May, so it comes under ineligible titles. You may refer to the link provided in message 1 to see what titles are ineligible. You can make a different nomination. Thanks.

Nidhi Kumari | 38 comments Oh sorry! I checked bookshelf link on right hand side of the website, and I joined GR last June, Victorians much later , so I missed Shirley .

You can still comment on the Shirley thread, if you want to read the book. I started mine months ago, and haven´t finished it yet, so I might chime in! :)

Nidhi Kumari | 38 comments Yes I want to read it this year. I will follow the thread. I wanted to know about the books listed on bookshelf, I have not read most of them, some have tags to-read does that mean we have to read them this year?

No, I guess that´s just books we want to read some day, if anyone suggests them. You can put books you want to read also on your personal to-read shelf, so that you remember which ones interested you.

message 19: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Kumari | 38 comments That’s nice arrangement, I will try but first I will look something to nominate which is not already read by group. Thanks.😀

No, it doesn't mean we are to read these books this year. It means the book was added to the bookshelf. The way GR works, we have three designations regarding the status of any given book:

1) read
2) to read
3) currently reading

So this means "to read" becomes the default position when the other two don't apply.

So far we have ...

Black Beauty
North and South
The Odd Women

That’s only three for our poll. I’ll leave the nomination thread up for a few more days before setting up the poll.

message 22: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Kumari | 38 comments I want to nominate Villette by Charlotte Brontë.

message 23: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 330 comments I would like to nominate In a Glass Darkly by J. Sheridan Le Fanu.

That gives us 5 nominations here & 8 for Dickens in June so we’re going to close out & set up the poll. It will be ready by Saturday.
Thanks, Everyone!
