I always love hearing other's interpretations of song lyrics. When you apply them to your own life and experiences, they can become so personal - maybe even difficult to "see" through someone else's life. But I think Hoover did a great job setting up the chapters with the lyrics. The only time I didn't like it was the Laundry Room chapter. That song (to me) is already such a wonderful story. It felt more like a recreation than an interpretation.

Kirsten Grier | 8 comments As soon as I got the book I immediately turned to the beginning of each chapter and read what lyrics she used to start that chapter with. I had only heard of Slammed through Avett Nation so I wasn't exactly sure how much was in the book about TAB. The lyrics definitely seemed more literal for Laundry Room since that scene took place in a laundry room! I think the lyrics are so open to individual interpretation and I found myself wondering what TAB would think of how she took their lyrics. Oh and I feel like photocopying the Talk on Indolence part just so I can memorize those lines! I have a hard time remembering all those words :)

Melissa | 5 comments Sorry I am late to the party. Just finished the book the other day. I agree with Kirsten, I was a little disappointed that Laundry Room seemed to be used so literally. But that is my favorite TAB song so I might have a little bias. Throughout the book I thought the lyric choices were appropriate - in some cases they were very different interpretations, however, from my personal associations with the lyrics.
