Jo | 4 comments Hi all,
I didn't want to join the group until I'd read one book at least and I finished that today, Peter Stamm's 'The Sweet Indifference of the World.' I liked it, liked the writing, found the topic interesting but I wanted more, I often find that with novellas. I'd read more by him though if anyone has a recommendation.

I'm only reading from the library and my own shelves this year so am a little restricted on my choice but am hoping to get to some of the following;
Alina Bronsky 'The Hottest Dishes of the Tartar Cusine'
Jenny Erpenbeck 'The End of Days'
Eric Maria Remarque 'All Quiet on the Western Front'
Bernard Schlink 'The Reader'
Conventional choices I know but several of these I've wanted to read for a while.

Johanna (johanna_paulina) I'm proud, Peter Stam is a Swiss autor! So good.

Yes, Peter Stamm books although other Swiss author recommendations are always welcome and yes, I’ll be reading in English.

Jo | 4 comments Second book completed and it was perfect for these crazy times, Adalbert Stifter’s Rock Crystal. A seventy page novella that reads like a fable about a small valley and one of its families in particular a brother and sister who, the day before Christmas, cross a mountain to see their grandmother. I won’t say more than that except that I enjoyed it especially the descriptions of ice. Short but sweet.
