Amy (DemonKittie) (demonkittie) | 340 comments This group has been essentially hibernating for a while now. I am sorry about that. I was handed this group when everyone else left years ago and I feel bad it's been sitting here inactive.

I am making an effort to clean up a lot of the old stuff that has been there forever. I am also talking to some people to either take over or help me with this group since I haven't done much with it.

That being said, if you are an active member please take the time to answer this short selection of questions, please. You can post your answer here or send it to me in a message if you prefer.

Thank you,
Amy

Questions:
1. Are you wanting to see more interaction in this group?

2. What would you like to get out of this group? (Examples may be, Buddy Reads, Books of the Month, Reading Challenges, Badges for things, whatever you can think of)

3. Any suggestions or comments you want to pass on?

Hey, it's okay. I tried limping this group along by my self in 2014 when I was the only one left to run it. I just got overwhelmed and then just kind of gave up. That's on me. It's hard to have a group active when you don't really have someone running it.

message 7: by Diane (new)

Diane | 1 comments I would like a book of the month, short suggestions for books to read, and candid assessments of books. It doesn’t have to be much. I am a member of another group that has so much messaging that I can’t wade through it all. So we don’t have to have a lot of activity to keep me satisfied.

message 8: by Roxie (new)

Roxie | 2 comments I would like to see book recommendations and maybe more interaction.

message 9: by Jill (new)

Jill (linnsay) | 1 comments Book of the month the month and recommendations would be great. I'm always looking for new ideas on what to read 🙂

message 10: by Kristen (new)

Kristen (joshieloo) | 1 comments 1. Sure, more interaction would be great.
2. I’d like a book of the month!

message 11: by Kate (new)

Kate Wooddell Amy, sorry. I have been a silent member and not even much of lurker. As a retired teacher I joined believing this is someplace I belong. You know, a "should" thing. But life, babysitting the grandkids every day, and all the activities and correspondence associated with my own writing have made it nearly impossible to throw myself into another group. I have even put my YA efforts in suspense for this year, but I would like to stick around and maybe force myself to check in more often.

That said, interaction is not big on my list right now. (I'm usually a very groupy person and contributor, but this is just not the time.) However, book recommendations are always appreciated. A book of the month deal might be a thing I could fit in, too.

This is definitely my genre and will always be.
Thank you for your efforts.
Kate W~

message 12: by Daibidh (new)

Daibidh | 9 comments Amy, you’re the sole reason I even log into Goodreads at all. I’m terrible at interaction but use your and other members of the group reading suggestions. My reading has become much more sporadic and so has my participation. I’m sorry.

message 13: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Book of the month, buddy reads and recommendations are always nice!

message 14: by Yaz (new)

Yaz Crittenden | 2 comments I would like book of the month and some discussions on books people have read and their favourite books!

message 15: by Wendy (new)

Wendy | 9 comments A book of the month with some discussion about that book at the end of the month (like a book club) would be fun! Maybe a poll for the next month's book choice. Suggested and upcoming YA Apocalyptic and Dystopian reads would be helpful. Ooooh, what's buddy reads?

message 16: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (med0ra) | 1 comments I come here to find books I may like to read.

message 17: by Brigid (new)

Brigid (queerbookreport) | 3 comments I am still around and actively reading, though I've shifted my reading focus to diverse books and own voices.

I love to see overlap with the genre fiction I love....so if we could find ways to highlight stories featuring POC, queer protagonists, and folks of differing abilities, I would engage with that!!

message 18: by Jane (new)

Jane (janeinri) | 129 comments Hi! I’ve been a lone moderator and it’s hard - really hard. So I understand where you are coming from.

I enjoy YA apocalyptic & dystopian fiction and I’d love to see suggestions, reviews, book of the month - whatever. There is a lot of great books out there - I need suggestions.

I’m good with some interaction- but I know it’s hard to get people to interact.

message 19: by Matt (new)

Matt Ward (mattward) | 5 comments As a dystopian sci-fi/speculative fiction author, i'd love more interactions, meet the author/AMAs or livestreams, great book recommendations, book club

message 20: by Jenna (new)

Jenna (jennasilver) | 16 comments Amy that is not on you I just stopped reading so much. But now I feel like reading more again.

message 21: by Robin (new)

Robin | 4 comments no worries, some groups are more active than others. i like interacting with others in the group so i will always welcome it. i like book of the month discussions and sometimes do buddy reads because i like to actually be able to talk to other people about whatever i am reading whether it be in person book clubs or virtual ones (i am in a few for that reason). i don't care about challenges or badges quite as much but don't have issues with them being offered either.

Melissa (missams) | 1 comments I am in. I cannot wait.

message 24: by Jen (new)

Jen Hossack | 3 comments I don't have time to actually participate in the challenges but I am interested in recommendations and a book of the month would provide that. As a YA Librarian, I'm always looking for recommendations for my students.

message 25: by Charlene (new)

Charlene | 1 comments Great idea!

message 26: by Carol (new)

Carol | 7 comments 1. Yes, please, even though I am usually a silent member of groups.

2. I would like challenges

message 27: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessicag) | 11 comments 1. Still here! I'm a ghost mostly.
2. Would love a Book of the Month!
3. Thanks for all you've done. I sincerely appreciate having this group for which book to read next.

message 28: by K. (new)

K. | 32 comments Mostly I am just looking for book suggestions with a brief summary of what makes the book worth reading or what other books in the genre a recommendation is similar to.

I guess the only other thing would be if there is a virtual author event for authors of our genre it would help to have a nudge/reminder on our channel rather than go searching for it elsewhere in Goodreads.

thx

message 29: by cereal (new)

message 35: by Sarah (new)

Sarah May | 2 comments I am still here but reading has taken a back seat over the last few years.
Interactions are ok but not what I’m here for.
I would like to hear about new books, book suggestions or book of the month with discussion.
Thanks for keeping the group going.

message 36: by Jen (new)

Jen Hossack | 3 comments Same as many here. I'm here primarily for book recs.

message 37: by Kasia (new)

Kasia Lasinska (kasialasinska) | 2 comments Hey there! :)

Interaction would be great, as would a book of the month and book recs!

I'm also a YA dystopian author, so any author-reader interaction would be most welcome :)
