It may have been the absolute classic, Black Beauty by Anna Sewell. My mum read it to me at bedtime, I must have been very young and I was fascinated by how the characters really came alive from the words on the page.
For me, it was Robert Louis Stevenson's Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Got me interested in chemistry as well as reading!

World Book Day will be on April 23rd this year! In honor of this, I want you to suggest the book that really catapulted you into your love of reading. It does not really have to be your favorite book. Although, if you can't remember which book got you hooked on reading, you can definitely suggest your favorite book..or books.
For me, I could not tell you for the life of me what the title of the book was but I was about 6 years old and it was a little kids chapter book about a little boy learning how to do karate. I was so excited that I had finished my first chapter book all on my own that I immediately wanted more. I haven't been able to get enough since then!
