Play Book Tag discussion

This beautifully written book by Alice Hoffman tells the story of Rain. She is the daughter of an Amazon queen and her tribe is made up of warriors. They are all women and Rain grows up seeing battles. She is lonely, but has a closeness with horses and questions her own future.

As Rain gets older she ventures farther and sees new things. Her ideas start to change along the way. She has even thought of mercy towards her tribe’s enemies. The author adds in symbols and tellings of the future; over time Rain begins to accept who she is.

This coming of age story shows Rain’s emotions well. She changes along the way and the reader sees how this queen to be would lead her people.

Oh I can’t wait its my next book! You beat me to it! You’d think I’d have time to read in a pandemic, but I still can’t grab a moment.
