NZ Intermediate School Librarians discussion

By the author of Pax and part of the Scholastic Intermediate standing order from earlier in the year. A lovely book about a boy called Ware who wants to be "normal" for his parents, even though he is quite happy the way he is. Ware is sent to the dreaded Rec centre over the summer holidays for "meaningful social interaction" while his parents work double shifts to save to buy their rented house. While hiding out in the empty lot next to the rec centre Ware meets Jolene and together they transform the lot into their own personal sanctuary. Themes of friendship, acceptance, fitting in, and overcoming obstacles.

Sounds like a cracker Sharon! I no longer subscribe to the Scholastic Standing Order so it's very useful to get a recommendation for a book like this. I will order it!
