This idea comes from KA who goes on to say for her it is Captain No-Trips, as in her trip to Spain is cancelled.

So what of it? If you are stuck at home what books are you reading? I am not reading books because I am still working, just from home.

Also, any books that relate? Someone I know asked, which Hunger Games book is this?

Koren (koren56) | 1597 comments I have lots of books on hand to read, which is a good thing because as of today our library is closed. We can call in if we know what we want or order online and the staff will deliver the books to your car.

Fishface | 18807 comments I of course am re-reading the extended version of The Stand. I'm on page 450 so not quite halfway through.

Are you still working?

Supposedly. They say I'm working from home even though there is nothing to do but check my voicemail and email remotely. I am going to be in the office tomorrow and have a phone counseling session set up. But then I'm supposed to be off the whole next week.

I'm trying to be socially distant but nobody else is observing the protocol. The electronic wizardry that supposedly allows us to remotely submit our timesheets was a spectacular failure and I was asked to simply come in to the office and complete one the normal way. That's why I'm at my desk adding photos to the TC anniversaries.

The 2 other team members who are covering our program have been all up in my business instead of staying 10 feet away the way they are supposed to. I also went to the P.O. to mail something big and the people in line were all right on top of each other as if nothing unusual were happening. I wonder whether they would back the heck off if I informed them that one of my coworkers has her husband in quarantine because he tested positive.

People are so dumb.

Is anyone else still working?

Hari Brandl (crochetbuddies) | 649 comments Not working (I'm retired from THE MEDICAL FIELD! Forgive the capitals and the exclamation mark, but I'm sooooo glad not to be anywhere near sick people), reading "The Sport of Kings" by CE Martin. And knitting, of course.

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1297 comments Not working either, because I'm retired, but also my volunteer opportunities have gone away. I usually work (volunteer) at a raptor rehab & education place, but the birds are being cared for strictly by staff and a couple of long-time volunteers at the moment. Other things, like dog training, have gone on-line, and my Tai Chi classes are being handled via Zoom meeting. Would like to hike but it's snowing. So I'm knitting instead. Not sure what I'm going to be reading yet.

Koren (koren56) | 1597 comments I worked 3 days this past week for someone that decided to social distance with her children but now the chiropractor's association is telling them to just take emergencies and possibly next week will tell them to shut down completely so I probably will not be working. I only work on call anyway so it doesnt hurt me. The grocery stores are advertising for temporary help so maybe I will check that out if I get bored. I am reading Predator by Jack Olsen

I was told not to report because I'm non-essential. Been working from home. Our timesheets have been online for a while so no problem there.

But then I got called yesterday and asked to come in. So I'll be working 12 hour days next week. Pray for me.

I will pray for you. I am working tomorrow afternoon and then that is probably it. Found out today that people will get paid while we are not working. I've been working for someone that wants to stay home. Now she will get paid and I wont. Oh well, could be worse.

Fishface | 18807 comments We are all pulling for you Bella! Be sure to protect yourself with an extra multivitamin and I strongly advocate that everyone take 3 garlic tablets with every meal. They kill germs, boost your immune system AND repel vampires. And take 50 mg of zinc gluconate every single day. Even if you do get sick zinc will make the illness milder.

It amazes me that while people are freaking out over toilet paper, nobody is clearing the shelves of immune boosters, vitamins or even citrus fruits. I've got the whole vitamin aisle to myself.

Good advice. I also heard to take vitamin D3.

Bella, I hope you won't have any problems going back to work and everyone obeys the rules. Vitamin D3 is good but also take Ester C as well.
