Chad I think killing off the original EU, kind of killed off this group as well.

Why? The EU is still there, along with us, the fans. We could chose to rekindle activity in this group, maybe by group reads or buddy reads.

What do the mods say?

Well, the new EU is not very good. All of the new canon books I've read are mediocre at best. What I've read of the books feels neutered. Nothing pertinent is allowed to happen because it could later affect Disney's ability to make another movie. I've lost some of my interest except for the comics which have all been excellent since moving to Marvel.

But feel free to setup a group read. I'll participate. I'm not sure the mods are even still around.

Ines (imaginary_space) I was talking about the old EU, which is now Legends. Sorry, should have specified that. But from what I understand, this group is about the Legends canon. Altough of course we could always opt to include the Disney canon alongside that, for those who want to enjoy both.

I am currently involved in other group reads, but there are a few Legends books I want to catch up on. When I start one of them, I shall announce a buddy read and see who wants to join. :)

Two of the mods were at least active on goodreads in the past month, so let's wait for a few days to see what they say.

This group existed before the old EU became Legends so I think this group would be for both Legends and current Disney canon. But I'm always up for reading Star Wars stories old and new and that includes the comics as well.

Ryan (ryanp) | 1 comments I've had a tough time adjusting to the Disney-era Star Wars novels. Since movies have been in production, the novels rarely feature character growth or saga-changing events . So you are left with back-story and author created characters. I was disappointed with the Aftermath trilogy that was mean to bridge episodes 6 and 7. It really reveals very little. On the other hand, Timothy Zahn's Thrawn novels are fun, even if they have to move Thrawn away from the main star Wars characters.

I completely agree on Aftermath and Thrawn. Aftermath felt like a bait and switch because we were promised it would bridge the gap and it did nothing of the sort.

I've found my focus switch to the Marvel comics over the books just because I haven't found any stellar SW books since the Disney takeover while the comics have been great.

June (skuggiaiko) | 1 comments Bloodlines was better than the Aftermath trilogy. I also have to admit that the Tarkin novel was interesting.

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 6 comments I joined this group as it died out sadly. Got into the old EU a few months before Disney turned it into Legends and created the new Canon.

I’ve only read the first 10 books in chronological order in Legends and loved all of them. Especially the Rogue Squadron books. I was devastated when they threw the books out and stopped reading them at the time. And waited for the new canon to come out. I can say out of the books I’ve read from canon a lot of them have been meh. Some of them have been really good.

I went back to the old canon this year and continued where I left off. With Rise of Skywalker out, it made me want to see how Legends ended up. So I went to my local used book store and started collecting the Legends books. Read so far only one this year but I plan to read more than just the one in Legends.

I gotta say I am looking forward to reading the High Republic era of canon. I just wished that the canon books followed the main characters like the Legends books did.

Allyssa Smith | 4 comments Why did this group go extinct? I have a legends group that is doing well. I started reading SW in early 2020 and started Star Wars Legends Fan Group in Aug 2020. We can still read the old books.

I have an active Legends group. Why is this one not active?

I think SW just kind of killed the interest with the new novels which aren't very good.

I've read quite a few of them. Haven't loved any of them yet. They feel very neutered by Lucasfilm.
